I had posted a thread in wtb recieved an email in spam saying ive got a nice one id sell you can mail me at and i did email he has the knife i was looking for i even had him send a photo of the knife with the date and his name next to it he asked for cashiers check but we used chime instead i sent him a nice chunk already but am now worrying about it being fake his reply to my thread name was lennyou it dosent show up at all on my thread and when click his name nothing comes up on here

yeah dude ive been scammed here before by leaving my e-mail out there, someone is just waiting out there to intercept you and pretend they have the knife

interesting, best of luck man well see if you get shipping on monday but lesson learned don't trust people with money that means anything to you, its just knives you can live without them

was it an exceptionally good deal or something? if it was normally priced we have more of a chance of it being legit

I found is profile but when i clicked it it says oops ran i to a prpblem i actually followed him but cant click profile

That’s because the L lennyou account was banned.

Also, I’d recommend trying to recover any funds you’ve sent considering they have a Nigerian IP address.

A simple $10 per year subscription would allow you to have secure private communications with sellers. I guess it’s easier to send $3500 to a stranger who contacts you via email. 🤔

Sorry for your trouble, S Sb22

The account that contacted you did not have the requisite membership to "sell" on this site, and the fact that the IP derived from Nigeria was enough for me to ban the account immediately upon seeing what was up.

The attempt was made to protect you...but those who insist upon conducting their transactions via email with unknown parties are acting outside of our ability to help control.

I hope you find a way to get your funds back.

$15 now per Sparks post in tech support, but still well worth it.

Relying on photos with the requested information (name, date, photo of knife) can be easily generated with AI. It is no longer a valid option for verification in my opinion. The following was generated with a simple prompt and a screenshot of the knife from Arizona Custom Knives. It took 5 minutes with ChatGPT, with other models the images will likely be even better or more advanced.
Your situation doesn't look good (I hope I'm wrong) and I hope you are able to recover some of the money you've sent and sign up for a membership here for future transactions.

Thank i did figure that out by running the photos he sent through AI detection and sure enough it did ive only sent him $1500 so im at a lost for that much now but thats it ive since stoped contact with him

Is there an "is it AI" checker available that could be added? I know such things exist now and saying that just exhausted my knowledge on the subject so I have no idea how crazy of a request that could be.

There are several websites that will check pictures and text and give you an estimate on the likelihood of it being AI generated.
