Am I the only one who doesn’t like Spyderco

I really can't understand why that blade style is so popular now. It's ugly and not as functional as others. Is it a hipster or flavor or the year type of thing lately? Why not just carry a straight razor and call it good.

Probably cheapest to make, that's why it was marketed to become popular.

It was your knife that first drew my attention to the Smock! Any details on the aftermarket scales you can share?

Grid v2 anodized titanium by Kevin Smock. He puts out small batches of scales every month or so, usually with new designs each batch. The Grid v3 recently dropped and sold out in a couple days. If you're interested, join the Smock Knives Facebook group. I can't say enough nice things about Kevin and his wife Tracie!

Reverse Tanto is a great profile and absolutely has its uses like all other blade shapes, it's not like every knife I own looks like a Buck 110.

A straight razor doesn't have a pocket clip and would be way more of a hipster carry...

I like mine a lot and with skiff bearings has great action, profile is easy to sharpen, I'd put it in my top 3 sharpest edges.

Taichung so it's put together very well...

Hahahaha! No, I only use electric shavers and shave my head bald with a quad blade. If I don't shave that way every few days it's like trying to chop down a face forest.

Just had too many run in's, if you know what I mean. Haven't broken too many bones or teeth yet.

That still looks hipster hippyskippy to me. :D

To me It looks like they let a temp worker have the reigns on that knife and they just drilled a hole thru the handle for the button. It just looks unfinished.

That was my initial impression back in the day and I can't say it has changed much. I've never been much of a BASIC BRO though to like crap like that and think it's cool.

I think I dropped my "I LOVE BACON" sunglasses in the mall parking lot back in 1994 and never went back to look for them. Then the mall shut down years later. Didn't even get to check lost and found. Didn't care either.

I know they were real popular with the self defense martial arts crowd of the late 90's and 2000's. I've always had a bad taste for them, since I've always considered them the original "mall ninja" brand of knives.
😂 All this time I thought Cold Steel was the mall ninja brand. I guess I need to turn in my membership card, then!

I'm sure I was, and it's spelled "advice" BRO. You don't tell me what to do when you can't even spell the word. ;)

I'm so sorry I mistyped a word when posting on an internet forum!

It sure would be embarrassing to call somebody out on such a mistake and be guilty of exactly that sort of mistake yourself...

But seriously, maybe let people enjoy owning and using a fairly popular knife without calling them "hipsters" and "basic bros."

Probably interchangeable. But they've actually made things over the years that I like. And for a non-bend-you-over price.

Boohoo. "Seriously", everyone should stop getting offended so easily. It will solve most of life's problems. I could care less what label you attach to me, my self esteem is sufficient to weather the storm. I've certainly misspelled a lot of things, but if you're telling me what to think or do, at least have the common decency to not make a post that looks like it was written by a 13 year old.

I knew I shouldn't have posted in a Spyderco thread. I feel like I'm back on Glocktalk circa 2001.

A spyderco Endura saved my life a few years ago, it kept me from being a crispy critter in an auto accident.

Something I can relate to. I'm glad you're okay and I believe that having a good utility knife is the best reason for owning a Spyderco, just based on my observations of the designs.

I've always objected to them being considered some type of ninja weapon as certain people used to make them into.
