It's nice and sharp and I won't have to chew snacks open with my teeth like an animal.

Neat coin. Was your grandfather fighting for the Americans? Is so, I doubt he fought on the eastern front. That conflict was between Germany and the Soviets.

He was a tank driver with the US Army 4th armoured division.
They landed on Normandy beach a month after the initial invasion and went on through France to liberate Bastogne.
Maybe this was not the eastern front, but I thought it was.

That is a very cool bit of history you have in the coin and with your grandfather's service. That said, historically speaking, he was not on the Eastern Front.

No maybes about it. He was not on the Eastern Front. You've got a nice history peice there. If you look into the terminology of those conflicts it will help you to express what you mean better, because you obviously know what he did and where.

I probably should, and yes I do know what he did from a little research.
I believe he most likely got the coin while running a small bar in France with his brother during the war.
I only know a few stories from his service, the rest I learned with a search of his patch.

Btw how to you like the swinguard on that case cheetah ?
It's a cool little guard. Its gotten loose over the years, I need to give it a little tap with a hammer and see if it tightens up. That knife was made in 2003 I believe.
I don't carry it that often, it's big for a traditional. If fact it's the same OAL as a bm 940. This thread actually made me give it some pocket time. Seeing some of the traditionals posted here inspired me.
