Amsterdam Meet 2015 report of upcoming Spyderco prototypes

This has more style and design than anything Chris Reeve has ever put out, and it's made in China. I don't care what the price is going to be it'll be a great deal next to a Sebenza!

Taiwan is not China.
Spyderco does have China manufactured knives but the Nirvana with S90V steel ain't one of 'em.

I'd be in for both the Mamba and the Nirvana........ if the production versions are drilled and tapped for LH tip-up.

The new Bradley is definitely on the list.

I like the Mamba as well . The prototype looks like it's made of expensive materials, I hope the actual production model will be simpler. The design is fantastic so I hope Spyderco keeps the purchase price within the range of the average customer who doesn't need to dazzle others with how expensive his knife looks.

Carbon fiber is not cheap or easy to machine, nether is Ti (depending on where it is sourced). It's great as is, we have no idea when it will be released, or what the price will be. Fortunately, Spyderco has a ton of items to fit just about every person's likes, needs, taste, and budget. Just buy things within your means. Wishing one thing was actually another always seemed like an odd thing. Personally, I would not like to see a solid item replaced by a lesser item for the sake of folks that are trying to reach above their specific budget. YMMV.

I thought the Mamba was a collaboration between Brend and Joel Pirela? Is he credited elsewhere?

Also it's a shame that that Nirvana had to have those stupid-looking lines all over it. It would have been amazing in plain titanium.

Dang!! What a lineup!!!! Mamba! Myrtyle! Nirvana!! I bet that Nirvana will clock in as the most expensive Spydie to date. And I can't say it will stop me from having it!!

I don't see it as shameful, nor would I be ashamed to own a knife with those lines. I don't believe they look ignorant either. It's a nice tribute to the "dry lakebed" etching done on the true customs... but I kind of like this look a tiny bit better than the squiggly lines. Helps set it apart from the dozens of other plain Ti frame lock folders already flooding the market. :)

Wow, that Nirvana might be the Sebenza that I never had. I love the lines, more grip, and one piece Ti construction, wow!!! Then the icing on the cake is an S90 V blade, all I can say is wow!

Ion, Mamba and Nirvana for me. I'm surprised the latter two piqued my interest a lot more than Ion!

I hear you. Funny how some people just can't help themselves but compare whatever folder they like to a Sebenza. That speaks volumes to me about the Sebenza, of course. If it were me, I'd go buy a Sebenza so I could stop trying to find a knife I thought was just as good or better than it is. Oh wait! I already did. :)

I'm not. To my eye, the Mamba and Nirvana have much more dramatic styling than the Ion has. About the only think I like better about the Ion is its size. (I wasn't kidding when I said "move over ZT" in another post. Seems as if Spyderco has really turned up the heat on the "overbuilt" category this year.)

Whatever! I'm not seeing desperate admiration for the Sebenza. The sebenza design is 20 years stale. Its not being pined over for a close alternative. Its being disparaged for its overpriced boringness.

I really dig the Nirvana. A lot!!! But, I hate the name......just sayin'

I must confess that the more I look at Brad Southard's work on Instagram, the more I love the blade shape and design. Which are echoed in the Spyderco collabs. Fabulous!!

Ion for the size and weight plus being a flipper. The design is tame if not underwhelming. It should make a fine EDC but I'm surprised they didn't bring it in at a 3" blade instead of 3.15"!

Spyderco has had some fine big and beefy knives: Tuff (discontinued), Szabo, K2, Tatanka and LionSpy. However, none have the dramatic design of Mamba and Nirvana. They may not be practical for many but they're a must have lust!
