Gianni, I think you're still misunderstanding the function of Rick Hinderer's new, improved lockbar stabilizer (the patented one everybody keeps linking to).
Sorry I have not misunderstood the function of the Hinderer Cam Lock.
Hinderer Cam Lock (US Patent N° 7.305.768 B2) is not Hinderer Stabilizer.
There are two different mechanisms.
These are the three main purpose:
1) Prevent over extension of the lockbar when unlocking the blade
2) Stabilizer the lockbar when the blade is open
3) Locking the lockbar when the blade is open
Hinderer Stabilizer (HS):
Point 1: OK
Point 2: OK
Point 3: NO
Hinderer Cam Lock (HCL):
Point 1: NO
Point 2: NO
Point 3: OK
The US law for the Patent is very strong.
The question is:
The Cam lock is an improvement of Hinderer stabilizer ? or it is something new..
Two cases:
1- Cam Lock is an improvement of HS:
1A - HS is not a Patent: American law does not consider HCL as a new idea, but only an improvement of something already existing in the market and it is free. THEREFORE IT CAN NOT BE PATENTED.
1B- HS is a Patent: You can patent HCL like an improvement of HS. In this case in HCL patent you can also read the HS patent number, the original starting idea.
2- Cam Lock is something new.
In this case you can not claim anything more than you have written in CML Patent.
Conclusion:
- HCL is not an improvement of HS because there is written nothing in the patent that remind the original one, HS.
- HCL is something different from HS
- Is not known whether HS is a patent if someone have this information will help this discussion. Right now it seem that there is no patent for it.
