An ambitious folder.

I would seriously consider buying one if they were legal to carry where I live but any folder with a blade 3" or longer is a felony. I hope you guys make a smaller version some day.

Gianni, how do we contact you? I sent you an e-mail through Blade Forums a couple days ago but I don't think you have received it... Please PM or e-mail me through the scroll-down menu on my screen name.

Whatever it is I personally have a couple of things I need to be done on the shipping. Basically I need to label the package as TOOLS and putting a 35 buck total value on it. No insurance but as long as the tracker shows it leaves the country of origin then I am fine. got 100++ blades from Bladeforums and Ebay with this method and not a single problem for my sellers.

Luck you. I frequently have sellers in the U.S. tell me they will not on customs forms underwrite the value of the item or be vague/falsify regarding contents, e.g. "tool" instead of "knife" or "cutlery".... even though technically it is a tool. And I usually don't even ask for these shipping specifics, they just come right out before any questions by me with a disclaimer of no illegal/untruthful dealings whatsoever. Hey, it's their prerogative.:)

I'm not speaking for Gianni, but I can give a few answers:

- There is a choice between sandblasted grey, bronze and purple anodised handles.

- Payment is not towards "some random Paypal address", it's a Lion Steel address which is a decent company.
- If you want the discount, Payment should be in on 20 January, and I think (my assumption) that some work has already been done then - Gianni noted that work was about start. Anyway from the buyer's point of view it's a pre-order.
- The other place to keep up with progress is the MCKF forum
- Some more characteristics:
Blade length 94 mm
Blade Thickness: 4.5 mm
Overall : 211 mm
Blade Steel : Sleipner
Hardness : 60-61 HRC
Monolithic grip Ti6AL4V

So where do you send payment then for the pre-order?

It gets easier with bigger feedback. Plus if anyone checks out my ebay feedback (same name) you'll see that each feedback is unique for the particular item/seller and this builds up a relationship. Since I'm the one asking for lesser security (in the event of postal kidnapping :)) then it's only fair that it's my loss alone :)

Plus I hate paying 30% taxes. That's why for the 35 buck total. Also, people are less inclined to steal a 35 buck package compared to a 350 buck one :)

I don't think I could post any of them outside of W&C

Yeah, dont forget the rating for outside W&C

I think would be better to write payment info (where and how to pay) here on this thread.

I apologize, but unforeseen costs (car was apparently damaged whilst parked ) force me to back out of this pre-order,,, I hope you understand,,,

ps: I'll probably catch one later though,,, looks a great folder,,,

This knife looks really nice and just begs to be used. I couldn't resist and also booked one directly on the lionsteel site.
However, I still have some questions. I hope I will be able to change my booking a bit if needed before I make my order final.

I am still a bit in doubt about the handle colors.
Are there any more pictures of the anodized models available?
I find it kind of difficult to know if I will like the purple color as I find only one picture of it, and it only shows the titanium scales without a blade, clip, pivot,... on it. Will the clip and other parts also be anodized in the same color?
I do like the looks of the knife in the pictures and until I've seen some pictures of the other models I wanted to play it save and order that one. I think it is the "SR-1S TI Titanio sabbiato, grigio" it that picture. Can somebody confirm that?

I have read on this forum and/or on the italian one that the final version will be flat ground(which I like) and most probably will have a spare "replacable locking tip" included with it. Is that correct? If not, I would like to order one with it if possilbe.

One last question. Has anybody has any experience with the Sleipner steel or does know with what other more common steels(S30V, VG-10,...) it can be compared with regarding edge retention, and corrosion resistance?
I only found some comparisons with "viking steel" and others that I have no experience with either. Someone stated it was comparable with D2(and A2) but as it has a total different carbon content, I'm not sure if that is correct.
It is not that I want to question the quality of the steel choice in this knife, as I have confidence that Sleipner will be a good steel, but I would find it nice to hear some experiences with it.

Thanks in advance!

I assumed that the one in your linked picture was the bronze one. I thought that the sandblasted titanium grey one was the one with the light grey handle material in the picture of the 3 handles. Also the one in the hand with the other two handles next to it.
I ordered what I thought to be the bronze one. It will be good to get final clarification from Gianni.
