...And a large Coke. GEC 97 Thread!

Watching your video, Mike, It appears the "snap-open" talk is not strong! How would you characterize the walk and talk??? I know you like the half-stop. I have been hoping these knives would have substantial springs, commensurate with their size!!

It is not a gator snap. But on a knife this size I think it is silly to just see how tight you can make the spring. I much prefer a nice flowy snap into positions. I have a drawer full of old large cokes that will rip your nails off - just don’t see the need.

Thanks, Mike.
Each to his own I guess. I like to hear them from here when you snap 'em in Oklahoma!!:D

There was a day when I like the old gator drop on a #23; especially the Schrade models. But now is just seems like somebody is trying to compensate for something... :p

Hard snap is much easier to attain that a smooth flow. And sometimes that sound you hear is the blade over-travelling into the backspring. If you don't want a knife to close with less that 7 pounds pressure, get a lockback. 2 - 2.5 pounds is plenty good for me. But everyone is allowed their opinion, regardless of how wrong it is...

Edit :
Think I’m going Sit this round out and enjoy looking at everyone else’s :)

I’ve got a jigged bone on reserve but the bone for this run is looking more “clawed” than jigged. Not sure if I like it yet. I’m looking forward to seeing some pictures of the finished knives.

I've seen this jigging pattern on another manufactures larger knives before, don't remember what they called it but I think the finished product might look good.

That jigging pattern looks lije the same pattern as on my M&G Yankee Whittler. I may have to get one.

Just got my 97 Maroon Micarta. I'm not a huge Micarta fan, but WOW! What a looker and a FINE knife. It's a big boy in the hand....etched blade and scary dangerous looking when opened. Me - I like the action...smooth.
My photog skills not great and cloudy here so I'll leave the Micarta color and grain (dark & smooth) photos to others, but here is my effort....

Oh my... That's a big big knife, isn't it?

Yep. The Maroon LINEN Micarta is smooth and polished and almost looks like woodgrain to me...very symmetrical and attractive IMHO.
