And The Snark Goes On

Ok. Ha! :D

That's the problem, sometimes it sticks all the way up against the other scale and doesn't close. I'm worried about that getting worse.

Try putting some dry lube like graphite (pencil) on the lock face. That has worked for me in the past.

Judging by the photo's I'd say that was a Kershaw product. Their customer service has a really good reputation. You can always call them and ask their opinion if the above advise does not work.

You should beat it on the edge of a table a few times, just to make sure it is going to hold up..

Spine-whack.

Where's that pic of our pal CJ65 spine-whacking himself? I knew I should have saved that somewhere...

Hey guys! I started this thread for the peeps that hang out in GKD, what do you think about Revdevil becoming a Supermod? http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1202395-Why-is-RevDevil-not-a-Supermoderator

I'd be for it. RD has always been more than fair and courteous to me (even when I was out of line)... and everyone else I know of. He's shown patience and restraint in many cases where I would have blown my stack and started strangling people. :D

However... it's not up to us and I don't think a poll/vote has much to do with it. I'd be surprised if he hasn't been asked already, or is on the short list of whoever decides these things. It may be that he just doesn't want to be a supermod... I sure as heck wouldn't ;)

I'm sure he'll take the butt-kissing to heart and file it away where it belongs, though  :D :p

The weather this afternoon is gorgeous. I think I'll go over to the in-laws pass off the kiddo's and spend the afternoon drinking in a hammock.

My wife is so cool. She just msg'd me and mentioned she had a very rough day... hence, we discussed the importance of ocassionally taking a break from the stress of daily business... so we agreed to say "coarse words not suitable for polite company" and just take a picnic basket an' go fishin' this evenin'.

Yep, rum + coke in hammock = awesome.

I made meat sauce for the pasta dinner and left it to simmer under the wife's watchful eye, then mixed my drink and parked my rear in the hammock.

JT, I think that is spousal communication at its best right there! Nothing like a relaxing evening of fishing!

Gunyon is going to solve all the worlds problems with peanut butter!

I just put peanut butter on my Eno hammock. I have no clue why.
Chili's all gone. Me and the boy demolished it. Gassy days ahead!

So, this happened today... I wasn't a huge fan of the "patina" on the blade, so on the grind I sanded it, and I'm currently sharpening it since it didn't come that sharp. Not taking it to a ridiculous edge I figured it's more like an Esee-4 or BK-9, so I am putting it to twenty degrees per side.

I used to have a camper shell on my old pickup. I wanted it to be easily removable when I needed to haul larger things. I took out the bolts holding it to the bed and replaced them with C-clamps. I could get it off in a few minutes. It took two guys to put it or take it off, but I could pick it up and carry it myself. I could have put it on or taken it off alone, but I would have scratched the truck up. I realize you can't use C-clamps on many trucks these days, but back then the truck beds had a different design.

Doc

I've seen this done before. I've never been a fan of the canopies, but some are ok I suppose. I'm always hauling something here or there and I had liked the openness of the bed. This cover is mainly for the trip across country but I'll probably leave it on for a while afterwards. Who knows at this point.

Met up with Widerstand today and ran some ideas by him. He's doing some awesome things with Kydex (mostly gun holsters). Also, my daughter handed over her Remora to him. He's gonna put some G-10 scales on it. Can't wait to see it. Will post up pics when she gets it back.

Got to hang out with granitestateofmind today. He was in Maine on a business trip and we met up for lunch. Nothing special but it was fun. Unfortunately the client called him back to work for a little emergency and ended our fun.

I also picked this pouch up for my Emberlit. $4 and change.

Just finished making up another small batch of char cloth just for the hell of it. Need to get me a new decent piece of flint... Broke the last piece i had and ended up loosing the pieces.

Much snark to catch up on...may take a day or two.

Update on my mom... She is still in the CICU, but they stopped sedation on Saturday. On Sunday afternoon, they did a trial with no ventilation, but she didn't breathe spontaneously, so they decided that they would try again today. We got a call at midnight that she had woken up enough to extubate (remove the tube) herself... Since she was breathing okay on her own this time, they went ahead and left her off the ventilator. My brother went back to KC on Saturday and I came home to Texas today. Our sister is staying the week and will keep us updated. She's got an MSN and RN, and is running the ICU nurses ragged. At I least the cardiac residents are getting a break from my brother, a pulmonary pediatrician also for 25 years... The prayers are appreciated. She's got a lot of healing to do, but it appears the imminent danger is over. The attending physician told us he gave her a 50-80% chance of dying last Wednesday, but she is relatively stable now.

In other news, I picked up some sandwiches for me and my brother before I left St. Louis...
