And The Snark Goes On

I'm HOPING it's because my body is tired, and that it will eventually get used to this level of intensity and I'll be able to not suck at doing pushups.
Sounds like you're overtraining. You've got to take days off to rest and build muscle back up or you'll stay stuck at a plateau forever... and probably wind up hurt.

WW, you gotta get in the weights and fitness challenge thread! Is that your workout for chopping training :D

I've found myself perpetually tired so I feel all tired doing what I feel for me is a pretty pathetic number of pushups. I've been doing these cross-fit/cardio MMA workouts thrice a week, along with 6 or 7 hours of krav maga each week, and some gym time for free weights, and when I do pushups, it's just embarrassing. I'm HOPING it's because my body is tired, and that it will eventually get used to this level of intensity and I'll be able to not suck at doing pushups.

I recently started doing these push-up / 1-hand dumbell-rows with 10 pounders. (pushup; right hand row; left hand row; repeat.) Makes regular pushups feel real easy. But I've been doing 30 pushups a day for like 25 years - thought it might be time for a change.

Beautiful ring Warrior. Those inlays are gorgeous.

I wear my wedding band on one hand, a stainless steel ring on the other and my necklace. Top corner of my most recent edc pic

As far as high priced folders goes... I've owned folders in the price range of $1-$200. There is a noticeable difference in both performance and fit and finish in $50 increments (in my personal opinion). I have handled but not used more expensive folders then $200, but from people who do own them I have heard that there is not much difference past the $300 price point. You are paying for the insane micro tolerances between pieces of the knife that make a perfect fit and finish. At the end of the day it is all about personal preference and size of your budget. If I had the budget I'd get a ZT 0801CF ($475) or the actual Todd Rexford 'Singularity'($1200), just because of how much I love the feel and performance of my 0801. Is it worth it? only time will tell if I can ever get my hands on one, I may need to win the lotto first.

TBL- You REALLY edc 3 folders, a SAK, ¿A mini multi-tool?, and a little fixed blade???? Be honest now :p

Hey i like knives same as the next guy but that just seems redundant LMAO

I gotta agree.
My $200 folders (ZT 0551, Spyderco PM2 (sprint run), Spydie Domino, BM 940) all feel better, and better-built, than my less-expensive ones. (I loved the 0801, but it wasn't in the budget at the time and is somewhat redundant for me at this point.)
But I wanted a high-dollar (for me) folder. I've taken opportunity to compare, in person, the Sebenza, 'Zaan, Striders, Emersons, and some William Henrys. Each time I walk out with the PM2 in my pocket. It's not that they don't offer things the Para2 doesn't - they have tight tolerances, exquisite finish, pretty details, and except for the W-H's are tough as nuts. (I was surprised all 3 of the WH's I tried had significant blade play.) But none felt as good in hand, or in deployment, as the PM2 and I didn't feel that the additional benefits they provided outweighed the significant additional cash outlay.
I did wind up buying a nice little custom at a deep discount. I love it, but don't carry it often - not because it's a custom, but because it doesn't work as well for me as an EDC as the Para2.

Your mileage may vary of course, and by all means try out some customs or mid-techs when you get the chance. They are great to play with! But for my hard-earned greenbacks the well-done production folders tend to win out.

Thats exactly what I am saying. As far as I am concerned, it doesnt get any better than a decent ZT or Spyderco (350 and Manix2 respectively...although I havent handled any other ZTs or high end Spydercos)

TBL- I LOVE that orange 350

Woody- I believe that all 4 knives pictured are ZT folders (plus the sak and multitool)- he must either rotate them or wear one hell of a belt:D

Dubz, that ring is badazz! Actually, brings back a lot of memories. See, a lot of of you know that I picked up my knifemaking hobby from my old man, but what you dont know is that before he ever made knives he made rings/jewelry. All of it out of turquoise. Looked a lot like your ring. He would buy a ring blank and fit the stone to it.. Unlike your piece that fit the ring to the stone. Yours is much more skillfully executed in my opinion. Love seeing that kind of stuff. Unfortunately, my old man never gave me any of his rings or I would proudly show them off. Good stuff man, does it fit you monster fingers?

No pics yet, but my boy and I just came back in from the shop, we started working on his minibike again, he decided he wanted it stretched and raked more, so, like everything else I seem to do, something simple turns into something complicated. We made a frame jig and got the backbone stretched 10in. (Yeah, you heard me) the fork tubes according to my caculations with have to be extended a foot. This is going to be the most ridiculous thing on two wheels. But, hes enjoying it. Tried his hand at welding today, no major burns yet, lol. Weld look like crap, I went easy on him. ;)

Cool ring Dubz. I wish I had more family heirlooms, particularly things I could use rather than just mementos that just sit around.
Thanks man.

Thanks man. I'm not sure what the inclusions are in the turquoise, but I like the looks of it.

Thanks brudda. That's freakin' awesome man. Would like to see some of his work. It's funny, this thing used to swim on my finger, but now that I've put on weight, it fits like it was made for me. My dad actually had bigger hands than I do. Well, fatter fingers anywhos. I have a ring he made out of a brass nut, that fit his ring finger. I can slide it over my thumb with no problem.

Get a pic of that first weld, so you can embarrass the hell out of him someday when he's trying to impress some girl with something he's making at the time with "and here's his very first weld"

Next time I see him, if I remember I will ask him about them, id love for people to see them, however, my old man is a little weird when it comes to stuff like that., if I show a interest he gets competitive. Like I'm gonna steel it or something. When I first got serious about making knives he acted like every piece I made was just something to rub in his face. Wasn't true. Fact is, I've always admired my Dad and his craftsmanship. That coupled with my Moms artistic vision got me where I am today.

However, I guess to give him some credit, I have a display hanging in my bedroom of old knives my dad made years before I was born. However, he never gave them to me, he had them wrapped in shop towels locked in a closet for years. I felt they deserved better. When I moved out, I knew he'd never give them to me so I took them. Made a display and mounted them to my wall with a engraved plaque with his name on them. Turned out beautiful. He didn't take them back but to this day he tells people that I stole them. Maybe that has something to do with it. :D

I believe the 2nd ZT from left is the ZT 0121 fixed blade.

And TBL told me he is the definition of a ZT fan, he doesnt rotate, he brings them all everywhere.. Including the shower :D

That would backfire once he tells her how old he was when he did that first one. At his age just using a welder, and WANTING to do so is impressive.

Awesome stuff Todd!!

The thing about welding if you've ever done much of it, is its not if but when you get burnt. Getting lit up is something to a certain extent you get used to. Just wondering how hes gonna handle the first nasty one. Wondering if it makes me a bad parent setting him up for it. You never like to see your kids hurt.

Somebody has bigger hands than you, Dubz

My scoutmaster is a engineering prof. At the local college and has a shop on campus full of welder, plasma cutters, 3D printers ad anything else you could ever want, and every so often he takes those of us that are over 14 and teaches us how to use all the differnt equipment, it serious fun

Some people just have a hard time with someone being better. Take it as a compliment, Todd. He must think very highly of your skills (even if he keeps it to himself). The ego and pride can really mix you up.
