And The Snark Goes On

So the TruSpecs run longer?

Well, between those two styles, the Tru Specs did. I could have lived with a 32 length in the Tru Specs, but they would have bunched more.
I probably would have gotten my wife to hem them eventually.

So my dad and sister had a special request for supper, they wanted meatloaf for summer. Meatloaf is one of those "take it or leave it" things for me. I don't usually crave it, but I'd eat it if that is what I had. But I went ahead and made it for them. Started with 1 lb of 90/10 ground chuck, 1 lb of ground sirloin, 1/2 lb of Italian sausage, added in some onion and parmigiano and worchestershire and some salt and garlic:

Then I decided to "Jarebear-ize" it so I took some bacon and laid it out in a weave

Here it's all wrapped up:

And then, into the smoker!

Lost my Kershaw Cryo II and my first generation Leatherman. They are nowhere to be found. I usually don't move my knives around that much.....hmmmm.

Rockin the SAK today instead.

That sucks TD, I recently lost my stream stylus pro, don't know how but it happened, I always put it in the same spot every night when it comes out of my pocket, next morning it wasn't there

That's basically what happened to me. They are usually on/in my messenger bag. They are not there.

In unrelated news. For my trip cross country my wife scheduled some time with family in Colorado....Lakewood to be precise which is about 20 minutes away from Golden. The home of Spyderco. I some new steel in my near future. Yeah.

I'm one of those freaks also that likes the green beans mixed in with my riced potatoes.

What's a riced potato?

ETA: Okay, I looked it up. New to me, but sounds interesting.

It's a mashed potato, but instead of being mashed, smashed or whipped it is put through a ricer.

and a ricer is a kitchen implement used to process potatoes or other food by forcing it through a sheet of small holes, which are typically about the diameter of a grain of rice. It leaves the potatoes lighter and less starchy because they aren't being overprocessed.

Worked in Old Town, ME today...and what visit to Old Town would be complete without a visit to the Factory Store?

They had a LOT of little exhibits placed around the store spanning their 100+ years of making canoes. Plus, bonus of very attractive saleswoman. Unfortunately, I couldn't stay very long as I had another job to go to.

I let someone else cook me dinner tonight....on the company tab. Seaweed salad and Agedashi tofu to start:

Followed by Dragon Maki, Spicy Scallop Maki & a Shipyard Monkey Fist IPA (not on the beer list, it was the last one) that the very kind waitress dug out of the kitchen after asking me what kind of beer I liked. Fitting, since my response was that I generally like a beer that "punches you in the face with flavor".....a description NOT generally applicable to Japanese beers.

Dinner was excellent, even more so considering, you know, Bangor isn't really what you'd call "culturally diverse"....and it's really kind of in the middle of nowhere, unless you're trying to get to Acadia National Park.

Hey CBear, does that little 3-hole 'dashi fit in an Altoids tin without the sheath?

That looks great! I love Japanese food.[/QUOTE

So does my youngest daughter - I actually took that first pic for her. If you make it up to the NE (or even just to Portsmouth) we should go for Japanese. Couple of highly rated sushi places in town.

Never been to Bangor.

I'd venture to guess not many people have. It's a 4+ hour ride from Boston, and not really a destination at that. Plus, ya gotta watch for moose crossing the highway, which is not very scenic once you're north of Portland. LL Bean is on the way, tho, and their store in Freeport (home of LL Bean) is open 24/7 - there are no locks on the doors. Classic road trip to drive up there after the bars close and do a little shopping at 3am....

I would not; it may jam up against the inside of the other scale and be very difficult to release....I have experience in this regard, so....FWIW....

That is not the way it's supposed to look....although it's very unlikely to compromise the locking function, it will be more and more difficult to unlock - which could result in you closing the blade on your thumb. I would NOT lubricate it with anything (see above).
If it is a ZT (clip looks a little more like a BM), you should be able to get it "fluffed and buffed" (and sharpened) for the cost of postage. Benchmade (AFAIK) offers something similar. I think that most manufacturers of knives in the US are pretty decent taking care of their products. Hell, I bought a BM off the exchange that didn't come with a clip (or screws) and the folks at BM gave me a choice of which style I wanted and sent it to me, with screws, gratis. Give the manu a call; I'd bet they'll take care of you.
I should have specified that it is simply a cheapie kershaw cryo. Thank you for all the advice though! I'll be sure to scrub the pencil off.

I've been to LL Bean a few times. A long time ago, I had some friends who lived in Sabattus and near Bangor and also near Baxter park. Nice country up there. I didn't know anybody in NH but I used to go up to the Cranmore and North Conway area to ski.
