Where's AIG when we need him? Some dude in General is asking for advice on the best steel to heat up in the campfire and cauterize a bleeding wound in a survival situation. I'm no doctor, but that sounds like a pretty bad idea to me... :rolleyes:
 
We used to pour whiskey on the wound and lay a trail of black powder and light it off. Kind of a waste of good whiskey but a friend is a friend.

Im not AIG, but we were told in the army that cauterizing is a last resort, and should only be done in a life or death situation when your going to bleed to death and tourniquets will not work..... That being said any metal should do the trick, i guess thinner metal would heat up faster... At that point who gives a damn what metal your using your already in a world of hurt...

Planning on which metal to use to cauterize is planning the wrong thing entirely.....

No no no, you drink all the whiskey, then shove/pull the flaming gunpowder through the wound. Have you never seen "Two Mules for Sister Sarah"?

Not to be too obvious, but surgical stainless would be my guess.
 
Well guys I guess it's time to admit defeat, my flashlight is gone :(, tore apart the house looking and can't find it so I guess it's time to get a new edc light so what do you guys like? I've been looking at the streamlight micro stream but on the other hand I wouldn't mind just getting another stylus pro

I have a microstream in my pocket now. Had one for a bit over a year. American made, waterproof, life time guarantee and 1 AAA.
 
Day two of the overnight saga begins.
Looks like a storm is brewing outside. Lots of lightening and thunder but not much rain yet. I think I'll get some coffee started and try not to fall over before 7am.
 
I like my Fenix E11 quite a bit....

But i want the 2014 version Fenix PD35.

If/when i get the PD35 ill give the E11 to my wife. She really likes that little E11.
 
I really like the look of the micro stream but I loved the output of my stylus pro which is almost twice that if the MS
