Anniversary Knife Design Contest

Yes it does, everybody has to start somewhere.:D

Great! Here's what I came up with. I believe that most designs are derivitive of other designs, and this is no exception. It's a blend of a number of knives I like. Many could probably see a Skookum, Aurora, Stomper Bushcrafter, Stomper Straight Back Hunter and maybe a touch of Laconico in for good measure. I imagine that it would be great for bushcraft, hunting or most anything you would throw at it. It's pointier than your Tank and Hiker but there's a bit of those thrown in as well.

I'd prefer it in 1/8" 01 with a convex edge, thumb grooves, hollow pins and some sort of hard exotic wood, maybe wenge, contoured just a bit, but not too much to dictate how it must be held.

Finally, I think it would fit in well within your designs. It's not revolutionary, but practical, good-looking (if I do say so myself) and somewhat of a hybrid of your existing designs. Hope you like it!

Call me old school, but I love a nice lookin' clip point. I've used several over the years. This is kind of a design I'm thinking about having John make me sometime down the road. May still do a few modifications. Just kind of a rough sketch. I think it would look nice in a pretty piece of cocobolo with brass hardware and maybe red or orange liners. I got it down as 1095 in 3/16" but could maybe do with 1/8" in either 1095 or O-1.

Finally, a clip point, my personal favorite style! Change those liners to the bright yellow I have, with cocobolo, that would be sweet!

Wakafew and PB, your designs are great!!! I love the curves on the handle PB, and Wak there is just somthing about a clip point that just looks right. Awesome guys! I love this contest, I still have to come up with something :)

It should not be hard for you, your last two designs were winners!

I see one major problem with all these great designs. I can`t use any of them untill after the contest is over! :grumpy:

I doubt anyone would mind you making up a test blade or two.:D

Great designs everyone. We've got some nice variety.

I have an idea for a Cumberland Knife. Same 5 inch handle as my JK Field Knife, 3 solid pins (no lanyard hole), liners, convex grind, 7-8 inch blade, probably have to be close to 1/4 thick. Pouch sheath that covers up to second pin. Whatcha think?

Thanks for the positive comments guys!

John, even if my design isn't chosen, I think I'd be interested in having that knife made. Would it be in the Hiker/Bushcrafter price range?
