Anniversary Knife Design Contest

Here's version two in the middle. It's a little more outdoorsy and less millitary to me and would seem to fit into your line of knives better. It's pretty much like your Bushcrafter's handle but with a puukko-style blade whose edge has more curve than the top drawing. The drop at the tip is only 1/8" from the spine and the guard is less pronounced. The lanyard hole is recessed like my favorite Mora Triflex posted below. Hope you like it!

I have a different idea for a new design /how about a 4 inch long tanto - 1 1/2 width with one guard on the bottom . I'll work up a drawing and post later , just an idea .

Here is one I posted before, the drawing is rough as chuff though ! LOL !!!!

I'll have to try a bit harder with my next one !!!

i would be in favor of calling it the JK S.T.U.B (Super Tough Utility Blade).

OA: 9 3/4''
Blade: 4 1/4''
thickness: i dont really have a spec for this, i think tou could go as low as 1/8 or as high as 1/4 and still be fine.
width: 2'' at the widest point.

OK. One last try.

I remembered your Tank model and thought I'd tweak my design a bit to more closely match it with a little change. Imagine a Tank with a blade more like a puukko. I call it the (Almost) Straight-Backed Tank. The tip drops about 1/8" or so. It just looked right to me to drop it a touch.

For your Anniversary Knife I wanted to design something that folks could recognize as one of yours by borrowing the handle and overall dimensions of your Tank and satisfy my desire for a stout puukko style blade in one fell swoop. You've also made some straight-backed Kepharts and Hunters so I figure this one would fit in pretty well. It could be made from 5/32" or 3/16" stock depending on how burly you'd want the knife to be. It might also serve someone well in the kitchen with thinner stock. Hope you like it.

Scandi would be nice...

Whatever John decides would be fine with me. Folks seem to like his convex edges a lot.

And thanks. I really can't take credit for the design though. I've just got some lust in my heart for a Skookum and countless other Scandinavian blades. It's just me a pencil and a piece of paper connecting the dots using knives I like as a guide.

I'm new to BF and JK Handmade Knives is quickly becoming my favorite hangout. I'm not a customer as of yet, but that is going to have to change ASAP so I can put in a design. If the Upstate of SC isn't blanketed too bad and I get to make it to work tomorrow, I'll be posting a concept or two.

Welcome JC in SC! Stick around and have some fun.

Here is my first attempt.

Note thumb serrations on the back of the blade and the pommel as well as red liners/Black Micarta, hollow pins and lanyard hole to match my soon-to-be-ordered March Special!

Blade is right at 5" with a short clip point. Blade thickness is currently set at 3/16". At maximum width, the blade is 1.5" to match JK's on hand inventory, though I might like to see it up to around 2". I added some contouring of the handle as well, but think it needs some more work.

Looking forward to comments!

EDIT: Handle contouring should more closely resemble the contouring John did on the "Urban Tank" in his "New Model" post.
