Anodized Titanium

Any major difference in the look of the finished product when you anodize bead-blasted versus non?

Definitely! Bead blasted always looks like more of a flat and slightly darker finish. Tomorrow I will see if I can get some pics up to show you the difference.

That bead blasted finish looks great! It's very subdued. I'll probably do that to my CRK. However, I'm still on step one: get a CRK.

This goes for Whitty or Mattal, since you guys are both really good with anodizing -

Do you find that one lasts better than the other?
Like one that's bead blasted and then anodized, would it last any less than an anodized non-bead blasted piece? Or vice versa...

lol You won't be disappointed when you get your CRK. I got the large Inkosi recently, it's basically an upgrade of the Sebenza 25, lookswise it's the same knife they just upgraded certain little things for the better...it's awesome I'm really happy with it.

That's why all the questions here too; I was thinking of maaaaybe getting some ano on it, but it looks really beautiful as-is so I'm not totally committed yet.

They wear about the same. I'd stay away from a sand blasted finish as it tends to wear quickly.

I prefer anodized Ti........little bored with drab gray.
I've had a bunch done recently.......almost like getting a new knife!!

Yeah I agree. I do like the plain Ti/Stonewash/gray, but I also like to have something "special" about them if I'm going to spend hundreds of dollars apiece...this way they're not all the same. I've been on an ano theme lately. So far for all three XM-18's of mine I got them custom anodized

Light purple, sunrise, and currently have a slicer coming in light blue

I like that top one the brass/gold color. It really makes the blade & the whole knife pop

I realize this is not quite relevant, but thought some additional pictures showing before/after contrast might help out. Here is a picture of a Kershaw Shallot and Leek. Both have stainless steel handles/scales as opposed to titanium. I colored the Leek using a propane torch. The uniformity isn't perfect, but I think it turned out quite nice and makes an otherwise dull knife "pop."

I ended up stone washing it, and feel like I kinda wrecked the finish. May redo it and see how it looks with the finish re-applied.

Definitely adds life to the plain color scheme. The finish looks okay but I guess it would have to be in my hand to really see that extra detail.

Would love to see the updated pics if you end up with a do-over on the finish.

I like it, it looks cool as hell. I have a Stars & Stripes 0456 from USA Made Blade, that I do use, that has become very dull, I wish I could brighten it back up.
