Another benchmade sprint run!?!?!?!

It's nice but the smoothness is affected by the coating. I honestly prefer the satin finish over the coated. Its smoother and more aesthetically pleasing. The bk1onslaught is still a nice knife though and at that price, its a good deal.

WARNING: Knife Porn

It has landed! What a great knife! It is nowhere close to the buttery action of my satin blade version, so it makes me think i will definitely carry this one and keep the other brand new.

As for carrying it, it probably wont see too much carry at work because of the freakin pocket clip.. it draws too much attention. but this would be a great knife for fancy/gentleman’s carry.

Nice pics, I was going to buy a green Ares and a C/F Onslaught. Now I'm not sure I should buy both, because I am saving money for a business venture. (And I already have the large and mini regular Onslaught version already).

So this leaves me thinking maybe I should grab the limited green Ares now and the C/F Onslaught if it's still around in two weeks.

I've also told myself no more folders for now. I want another Fherman fixed blade, but Benchmade just keeps taking my money.

Look at it this way.... months down the road you could easily sell the knife for what you paid for it, if not more. I almost pulled the trigger yesterday and ordered a 2nd one, but I think I'll try to see if I can get my hands on the satin finish one instead.

The Logical One has spoken. Your right, I am just going to buy both now. Then my next blade will be an Extreme Judgement.

Well I bought the Ares, but tomorrow I am buying five onslaughts, just gotta transfer funds. :)

Just got mine and woah am I impressed! This is my most expensive folder and its F&F are great! Lockup is solid and centering is perfect! This is why I have more BM's than Spydercos. Oh and mine 62/500. My only problem with it is that now IU'm scared to even use it (dont want to scratch it) and it is a little stiff out of box but i guess I just gotta break it in..
 
Im a little let down, mine has a small amount of vertical play... im contimplating wether or not to get it fixed or jut live with it.

An axis lock with vertical play? I'd send it to benchmade and let them sort it out. The axis lock is self adjusting by nature, so it will probably work itself in and become solid, but if it were me I'd send it in.
 
My only problem with this knife is that its way to stiff to disengage the lock to flick open and close. Did your knives come like that or did I just get a bad one? My centering and lock-up is perfect though.

A little off topic, but my friend picked up one of the limited edition Ares in M390, and it's one of the best Benchmades I've seen in a while. Fit and Finish is pretty spot on with it, and it's one of the few Benchmades I've seen that came sharp from factory.

Mine has the exact same stebolicious. Tried adjusting everything but I couldnt get rid of it. debating sending it in as well....

It is possible for axis locks to have vertical blade play. The reason is if the top of the tang is cut just a few thousandths off, the lock bar will travel all the way forward. When the axis lock can't go any further because the handle and liners prevent it, then it will always have blade play. The good part is if you get a good one, where it has a little room for the bar to move forward, it will always lock up perfect. Sorry for the run on, typing from my phone.

Adjust the pivot? Mine was a little stiff, so I ended up taking the knife apart, lubing it up, and then loctiting the pivot. The blade freely swings back and forth when I disengage the lock with absolutely no blade play.
 
My M390 AFCK came new with the axis bar hitting the end of the slot and as a result blade play. In retrospect I wish I hadn't tried to live with it and just sent it in, so that's what I'd suggest to you guys with the problem.
 
Anyone else have a really loose pivot out of the box? I flicked mine open a couple times and i almost lost the pivot screw because it had backed out almost all the way.

its not a big deal or anything, just put a drop of blue loctite on it and all is well... just wondering if anyone else had this happen?
 
Can't speak to the Onslaught, but my green/black Ares is great. Pivot was pretty tight out of box, so I backed it off a bit and flicked it open a few times until I could tell it was a bit looser/smoother, then tightened it back up to where I liked. Now it's got no bladeplay and I can close it just by pulling the lock back and letting the blade drop. I'm pretty happy with it. :D
