I just logged on for a few minutes and all this wonderfulness is going on in every thread. The display is righteous as are the new specimens. Primble!! I will have a lot of catching up to do. See ya around everyone.

Another stunning display my friend!!! I love watchin you work...the end product is always so worth the wait.

Thank you everyone for such kind words about my display.:thumbup::)

Mike (Galvanic1882) - I was in another spot on the net and saw that you have quite a few artifacts from the old Cattaraugus Factory. It would be wonderful to see some pictures of those items in this thread, if you care to do so. ;):)

Looks great Rob! Leaving the glass out is a good idea, knife nuts must have access for "chicken eyeing and coon fingering".

Beautiful display, Primble. I like displays without glass where the knives are easy to get out. Are you using rare earth magnets and how many per knife?
Dan

Thank you Dan, Stephen, and Mark for your comments.

Dan,

Yes - Rare earth, specifically Neodymium super magnets. Most of them are 5/16"x1/16" in size and usually two per knife. It does depend on the blade configuration and thickness of the handles on each knife. I have a few larger Pruner or Farmers Jack knives which required four magnets to hold them firmly in place and also level to the board. Sometimes stacking the magnets will keep the knife from kicking out on the bottom, something that Waynorth had to whisper in my ear. :D

The super magnets perform extremely well with the heavyweight matte paper covered steel background. ;):)

I would like to add my humble Cattaraugus wharncliffe pen knife in jigged bone to this great thread,
Charles

WOW Charles - a wharnie Catt !!! It is a stunner - one of the one hundred plus patterns made by the Catt factory - if history has it right. ;)

Thank you for posting it.:thumbup::thumbup::)

Is your Catt really humble with that wicked blade and all? :D

Primble: Compared to the great looking pieces you have in your collection, my few Catts feel pretty humble. The wharncliffe is my best one with jigged bone.

Charles: Would you happen to have a hole shot of this great knife? Does it have a catch bit? Thank you.

John Lloyd

Great one, Charles, and I like the angled pattern stamp on the pen's tang. Not sure I've seen that before.

I'm really surprised Sarah hasn't shown up yet in this thread. If I know her, she will have pictures of Catts ON Cats.

Maybe you have to mention her three times before she is summoned? Pertinux. Pertinux! PERTINUX!

You rang?

I do not have a Cattaraugus knife, but am grateful for the pictured gift from galvanic1882, a knife pick clad in rosewood from the old Cattaraugus factory building.

(For anyone who is not familiar with the story of the rosewood's discovery and subsequent salvage, hie thee, pronto. Great stuff!)

What a beauty!

Thanks for the explanation, Primble. I may try that out sometime, looks way better than using elastics, like I have in the past. Lee Valley used to sell rare earth magnets, but I am not sure if they do anymore?
Charles, I would say that Wharncliff is far from humble, beautiful knife.
Dan

Great stuff Sarah - the Outtakes from the photo shoot were hilarious.:)

T'anks! Truth be known, almost all my photo shoots have feline outtakes. My cats quickly become involved in whatever I'm up to at a given time. :D

Good to see your display taking shape.

Thanks for the complements everyone. I am certainly proud to have the wharncliffe in my collection. John Lloyd please help me with what is a "catch-bit" so that maybe I can answer your question?
These photos were taken by John aka "Chief" and they are what I have right now.

Here are the other Catts I have all in pearl.

Very nice pearl Catts Charles.:thumbup::) ( Lost me on the hole shot and catch bit requests, as well, maybe a look inside the liners is my best guess. ) :o

Thank you Sarah and you are welcome Dan. The Solingen made Cat knife is terrific!!
