At this years show i will have an eye out for customs that are similar to a Strider SNG or SMF. Any custom makers make a design that is somewhat similar to a Strider SNG/SMF. Or at least tha same ergos and principles??

Try the custom knife shops, True North Knives, Plaza Cutlery, Arizona Custom Knives come to mind.

I am in Georgia. Those knife shops don't exist out here.

besides i just wanted to skip that and see if anyone knows any customs trhat resemble the Strider SNG/SMF. I could hunt around but thought it would be easier to ask here.

Also the show I was refferring to is the BLADE show here in Atlanta in a couple weeks. Even if there was a knife shop i would not walk into one now. Nver liked them or the prices. That is why we have gun shows.

Can't you order online from them?

Darrel Ralph Trigger reminds me of Strider/Hinderer.

A custom SNG or SMF maybe? :D

Well it is amazing to me that no custom maker will take the same principles as Strider. Maybe that is why we pay the price Striders command. They are all alone in their class.

If i was a maker I would take a close look at Strider. After all, Strider copied the Hole from spyderco and the liner lock from CRK, so why not take what strider does (or Hinderer) and be successful?

Most of those custom knife makers will still have their knifes sitting on the table after the Blade show is over. So duh!??

Yeah, what I meant was that Strider makes custom versions of the SMF and SNG, don't they? So if you want a custom made SMF, you can get one handmade by the Strider guys themselves. You can order one from truenorthknives.com I believe. A suggestion.

Because, if you cannot come up with your own design and your own style you are not a knifemaker.

What you are is a copycat......................................

Yeah but it is also business. I really don't care about copycats and neither would most folks. Like i said, the Strider took the best of different knifes and combined them. Doesn't seem to bother anyone.

I wasn't asking for an exact replica. Just something that a custom maker makes that is similar.

I guess since knowbody has come up with a name that there are no makers. That asnwers my question.

NOoo, I want something comparable to a Strider. To me, Hinderer is the only other knife maker that makes this style of knife.

Wake up custom makers!!!!!

I predict this years Blade show will have less sales than in the past due to the reccession. Not as many folks will tend to spend like before. So if you are a knife maker, why not get on a design that people do want and is popular. i am sure if another Strider style/Hinderer knife came along it would be all the talk around here.

Why not just handle them at BLADE and get the Strider you like? Only other semi-custom knife that comes to mind besides the Hinderer XM-18 is either the CRK Sebenza or Umnumzaan. You could also check out Mikkel Willumsen's knives.

i really don't understand this thread.

ergonomics are largely subjective.....

many custom makers use a framelock.....

you want a knife that looks and feels like a strider, but isn't? i can't see the logic in buying a knife because it looks/feels like a strider, yet isn't. if a strider is what you like, then that's what you should buy.

I have 4 Strider folders already.

The only thing to do then is send them to me. This will provide you with greatly increased motivation to find your custom copy.

Again, so basically nobody knows of any other maker that makes a knife that is similar to Hiderer or Strider. That is remarkable to me because there are so many makers and none can sell their knifes as well as them..
