As is your ignorance.

Yeah . Here is a recap of my ignorance :

At this years show i will have an eye out for customs that are similar to a Strider SNG or SMF. Any custom makers make a design that is somewhat similar to a Strider SNG/SMF. Or at least tha same ergos and principles??

I do not know about the hate in this thread, but it sure would be a better thread without the untrue generalizations.

Personally, I do not want to deal with a maker who copies other makers without consent.
For some reason few of the thousands of collectors and makers that I know feel the same.

Time for the personal insults to stop.
Better to make your point without calling names.
It would be best for everyone involved to "Take the hint."

I was never asked for an exact replica of a Strider.

I think the point was already made that all makers copy each other.

In my experience I do not think the point that all makers copy each other is accurate at all. I think there are a few, but all is not accurate in my opinion. The makers whose work is admired, valued and desired the most have their own styles that can be identified across a room.

It can be proved one way or another next week when a maker is asked to copy another makers work without permission. My thought is that few takers will be found.

How would you say similar? Plenty of makers produce qulity, ergonomic, hard use knives, and they've been pointed out to you.

Here's another recap of your ignorance: all this arguing because you asked about knives with the same "ergos and principles" as a Strider or Hinderer -- but you haven't said what "ergos and principles" mean to you. What exactly are you looking for? What design cues, what points of similarity? Wild goose chase. Can't point you at something when we don't know what you're looking for, and you never bothered to define that.

These I like:

The one in the middle is not for me. But I like the top and bottom models. I've contacted them about ordering one just like the top one. Apparently they have a brand new version of that knife coming out soon. They sent me some pictures... it's bigger and even badder than the one on top. I really like the finger guard.

Again, so basically nobody knows of any other maker that makes a knife that is similar to Hiderer or Strider. That is remarkable to me because there are so many makers and none can sell their knifes as well as them..

I know a slew of makers who make a similar knife: It's a framelock, has a blade, a clip and is heavy duty.

Will it look like a Strider............no, Striders look like Striders

So true!!

There is no mistaking an Onion, Mayo, Hossom, Carson, Strider, Hinderer, Lum, Blackwood, Begg and a hundred other fine makers. That's what makes them a fine maker; you know it's their knife from across the room.

Copycats on the other hand lack something that seperates a good maker from a great maker and that is a knife with it's own soul and identity.

Yeah . Here is a recap of my ignorance :

actually, this is a better recap of your ignorance:

I am in Georgia. Those knife shops don't exist out here.

besides i just wanted to skip that and see if anyone knows any customs trhat resemble the Strider SNG/SMF. I could hunt around but thought it would be easier to ask here.

Also the show I was refferring to is the BLADE show here in Atlanta in a couple weeks. Even if there was a knife shop i would not walk into one now. Nver liked them or the prices. That is why we have gun shows.

you have a computer that is internet capable, unless you're posting telepathically.

NOoo, I want something comparable to a Strider. To me, Hinderer is the only other knife maker that makes this style of knife.

Wake up custom makers!!!!!

I predict this years Blade show will have less sales than in the past due to the reccession. Not as many folks will tend to spend like before. So if you are a knife maker, why not get on a design that people do want and is popular. i am sure if another Strider style/Hinderer knife came along it would be all the talk around here.

Again, so basically nobody knows of any other maker that makes a knife that is similar to Hiderer or Strider. That is remarkable to me because there are so many makers and none can sell their knifes as well as them..

we get it, you like striders.

you might get more helpful responses if:

1. your op was at least a little clearer.
2. you didn't continually shill striders.
3. you didn't keep giving smart ass answers.
4. you at least had some idea that other makers exist that use the same materials and locks as strider.

as it is, this thread is not much better than spam.

In all, this turned out to be an informative thread minus the name calling and sarcasm that were unneccesary. A couple pics and several examples were given of knives similar to Striders.

As far as those who don't want to buy a knife simalr to a Strder because they feel it is a knockoff. That is your descion. Why don't you complain to the makers that were suggested and not me.

Ah. It's the post, then edit while it doesn't show up as edited game. Sit back and chill out. FWIW I don't know of any other knife maker that mills out a solid piece of G-10 like Strider does for their SnG/SMF models.

I thought it was pretty clear.

2. you didn't continually shill striders.

I never shilled Striders

3. you didn't keep giving smart ass answers.

Maybe you live on a different planet cause I never called anyone ignorant or any other names. I only responded to those who deserved it but in a civil way.

,, i was asking a question and never got answers until later in the thread. then a couple people came up with some makers which are very similar to Striders.

4. you at least had some idea that other makers exist that use the same materials and locks as strider.

Yes yes.

as it is, this thread is not much better than spam.

Only because of people like you!

You're own ignorance is so blinding that I find it hard to believe you'd find anyone not ignorant. We're not name calling by calling you ignorant, we're just pointing out a very obvious and irritating personality trait.

Sorry you lost me on that one. I never changed my post.

Um I directly quoted your post, so yes you did....

blah, blah, blah.....

as it is, this thread is not much better than spam.

Only because of people like you!

that doesn't even make sense. or is this an attempt at the dreaded "i know you are, but what am i" argument?

Ban poster #2 after warning.

Or can i call people ignorant too?

mr. clean was poster #2, why should he get banned?

i didn't call you any names. saying one is ignorant is a comment on their lack of awareness. calling one an ignoramous is calling them a name.

Go read the thread again from the beginning. I never said anything offensive to anyone. offensive is when someone posts a personal attack that has nothing to do with the subject matter and feels they have to put the other down. I am sure this is a certain "element" of folks on Bladeforums that join in like a pack mentality that can't think objectively for themselves.

At least I am discovering what people these are because most people here are decent folks.

Oh and this time I edited for typos. Is that okay with you Josh?
