Any folding knives built as strong as a CS Spartan?

I think the Tri-ad helped ColdSteel with relevancy. For the price, the Spartan can't be beat for overall toughness. If you're willing to spend the loot, you can get a knife as tough as you can imagine.

Also wanted to mention the Benchmade Rukus, as the toughest knife they make to my knowledge, quite a bit beyond the Bedlam. I think it slipped by a lot of folks who were looking for hard-use knives, perticularly ones that cut well and looked good. And they were priced pretty well originally.

To mention liner-locks such as the 0200 and 0350 in any comparison for toughness to the Spartan is wrong in my opinion.

I guess I'm wrong then and shouldn't have put my humble opinion on the inna-net for scrutiny... As previously mentioned by myself; I said that the ZT's probably wouldn't go toe to toe with the spartan, however, they are quite tough in their own right. If a person had an unlimited budget, they could definitely get a knife that's stronger, cuts better etc.

Chill.
It's a discussion board, and people are free to offer just about any opinion they want.
It's not all about you.:)

I never once claimed it was about "ME". It's about my question. I'm not interested in your, or anyone else's , knife use philosophy. Go ahead an use this as a soapbox for your opinions on life if you want. Here's the opinion that I'm "free to offer": "I'm not interested".

Well, I'm not interested that you're not interested.
Interesting.
Or maybe not.
Who cares.

There are dozens of folders in the Spartan strength class. All Striders and Hinderers, most Chris Reeves, almost all ZTs, Extrema Ratios, Pohl Forces, and several other Cold Steels. I can't prove it, though.

That's actually what I was trying to find out. I don't know about the Strider prices but comparing a $1200 Hinderer (and other very expensive knives) to a $50 Spartan sort of answers my question. It appears to be awesome bang for the buck and a good solid workhorse.

I dont know if this might be important to you, for me it is at least, but last time I checked cold steel only has a warranty on their folders for one year. The other knives mentioned are warranted for life.

On another note, you will be surprised at the abuse a friction folder can take.

You might want to look into Pohl Force knives as well.

Yeah the Bedlam would be tougher if it had a thicker 4mm blade.

For my purposes, these large Cold Steel folders are pointless. If I'm going to need that sort of strength, I'll just get a Scrapivore, Izula, Bravo Necker and carry it in a pocket sheath. It would probably be as strong while remaining lower profile than the CS knives. They also have better steel.

True, the Rukus is a very strong knife. Too beautiful to ever use hard IMHO, but very strong and tough.

...Sigh

I think the answer to your question is no. The spartan might be the strongest production folding knife ever made. Although I'm going to check out the Espada series before actually declaring the Spartan as "strongest"

So you're upset that this thread is now muddled with opinion rather than answers to the OP's question, yet you see a point in stating your dissatisfaction whenever possible. Your posts are just as, if not more, useless than all of the opinion posts. It's known that there are many people who dislike Cold Steel, you can't expect to post a question involving Cold Steel and expect people not to post their opinions.

Now THAT looks like an interesting knife. Of course it's obscenely priced on the secondary market now. Just curious though, what was it's original "street" price?

The Espada Large definitely caught my eye but it has two drawbacks for me:
1) It a little unwieldy (in my hands anyway)
2) The handle is slipperier (of course the G10 version isn't but it doesn't have full steel liners so I doubt it's as strong)

To answer the OP's question. I don't know and I'm not about to stand on my knives (or let anyone else for that matter) to find out for you. Buy a Spartan and a few other brands and find out for yourself.

The Rukus blade is obviously tougher , but the actual construction and frame of the Bedlam is just as stronger , if not stronger
That steel pommel really help making the entire handle structure extremely strong , with absolutely zero flex or bending whatsoever
Even my ZT0200 will flex at the handle if you press it hard enough , but the Bedlam is 100% solid
