I like the mini trapper. It's not too big to bother me in a pocket and I have two large blades instead of one large and one small like on many jack knives.
The BladeForums.com 2024 Traditional Knife is available! Price is $250 ea (shipped within CONUS).

So is the 3 7/8" serpentine one of the early/original patterns of the Trapper? And which blades were the "original" patterns? I think I've heard it's the Calif Clip and Spey or no?
A "TRAPPER" is a jack knife with two specific full length blades. The master blade is a clip-point with a very long clip. The second blade is a long spey. The STANDARD TRAPPER (or HEAVY TRAPPER) is around 4 to 4 1/4 inches long closed. It is built on the swell-center regular jack handle die.
LIGHT TRAPPERS are built on 3 3/4-inch or larger slim serpentine handle dies. The light trapper was most likely introduced before the First World War, the standard trapper not until the mid 1920s."

Nice looking! What is that scale color? I like it!
Trappers!? Patoooie!! Who in their right mind would... Oh, alright. I have one on my desk in front of me that I use as a backup when my premium stockman goes AWOL in the truck seat or laundry basket. It is an off-brand though. A Sears Craftsman #9481 3 7/8 incher with carbon steel blades. Gee... I wonder who could have made this? Could it be... Naw, couldn't be.

Oh! And a newer member who thinks I have done him some service lately sent me a 'sprise packed in with some padded mailers. Hmmm.. what could it be? My, my, another trapper, a barehead this time. A 3 3/4" green Delrin Imperial Frontier made only a short while at the Imperial Stag factory in Listowel Ireland!

The thing snaps like a gator and tried to bite me right off the bat! Oh, yeah... 1095 carbon steel blades as well. Looks like I am trapped!
By the way, the pics are nabbed from the web. It is cold and wet outside and I am not going out there to take pictures. So sue me if you must. The knives however are Mine-all-mine!![]()
My 48 Trapper in cocobolo has been in my pocket nearly every day since I got it about 3 weeks ago. LOVE IT! It's slender and sleek and two long sharp blades.
