Any love for Trappers?

Guess I'm late to the Trapper Game. :(

Gotta love Trappers! Well, at first I didn't. But they've grown on me, especially since I now need reading glasses to see any pattern smaller than a trapper. Boker makes the best trappers, if you can get the carbon steel German-made models. I have a Case or two that aren't bad either. But more than any other, I have Old Timer trappers. But sadly I have far more knives that I have pictures of knives. :)

Here is a sample from the collection:

And one from Case, coa wood with engraved bolsters:

Great to see all these cool trappers. I really liked that Buck 311 pic from Old Hunter. That one is now on my list!!

I don't have many trappers, but this old Queen Cutlery 19A has turned me around on the carry ability and functionality of this design.

Nice! I recently picked up a Queen 13A for $30 at a local pawn shop. It's my first trapper and I absolutely love it.

Just got these back from Canal Street. They've been gone for the better part of nine months. The Sunset bone (2012) on the left, was returned because it had bad horizontal blade play and a snap of about a three. The Caramel Aberdeen jigged bone (2008) on the right had the same blade play and a two snap. They decided (rightly) to rebuild both knives.
I was given the option of having either the mark side coin shield or having the bolsters etched with their logo. I asked to have the bolsters etched with their logo. Evidently, they replaced the bolsters on the 2008 trapper with new ones of stainless steel, but were able to save the nickel silver bolsters on the 2012 and therefore decided not to etch the nickel silver bolsters. I'm just guessing here.
Covers were replaced on both knives and are better matched than the ones they had before. The snap on the 2008 is a crisp six and the 2012 is an equally crisp five. Lockup is solid and blades are perfectly centered. Fit and finish is damn near perfect.
I only own three Canal Street knives (the other is a Pinch lockback) and all three had to go back for unacceptable problems. All three were repaired with no questions asked because Canal Street agreed the knives were not up to their standards. Normally, its three strikes and you're out, with me. But I now have three exceedingly fine examples of the cutler's art (Thank you, Eric) that, in my experience, are far above knives costing more than twice their price.
Although I vowed never to buy another Canal Street knife, their performance of their duty to a customer (notwithstanding a frustrating and long wait for service) has me questioning the wisdom of that promise to myself.
I love these Trappers.

I love my trapper!
I bought this one because my dad always carried a Case trapper, and I wanted one like his. ;)

Deskil, I really enjoy those two you've posted. They look outstanding! The bone on both is really gorgeous, but I particularly like the smooth sunset bone. Very nice!

Beautiful picture and knife! I only have one trapper, a case slimline in yellow. Yours makes me want more

I have accumulated about a dozen in the process of my main interest in the peanut pattern. (non BF dealer member reference removed) frequently has trappers for a deep discount on the 1st and 15th and well I'll bite since I am on the site and there aren't any peanuts I don't have and I have gone to all the trouble  of clicking on their site.

Thanks, Todd. :)
That's actually the only trapper I have at present. Haven't really felt the need for another, for some time.

Very nice, Christian!
I love the Cozy Glen knives, their quality was 10/10 and they are very good looking, too. I used to have a cousin to yours, the mini trapper in red wormgroove bone, until I gave it to a knifeless friend. You can tell how well-liked they are, by how rarely they show up for sale on the secondary market.

It"s a nice coloring, but not nearly as nice as your red bone Case. Outstanding pic there !

Very interesting and great outcome.

I also have a spot in my heart for the Half-Moon Trappers -- currently have green, ivory, and red micarta, and a sunset bone. The sunset bone, like yours, had horizontal blade play (although the snap on mine was fine). Sent it back to CS a few weeks ago with a nice note, hoping they'd be able to repair or replace it. I'm pleased to hear they repaired all three of yours to your satisfaction, can't wait to get mine back -- but even if it's 9 months, I don't mind waiting.

They'll fix you up, but patience is required. The customer service department never answered any of my e-mails.
