Any news on the Para-Military 2?

I have recently noticed that some on-line retailers are not getting new stock of Paramilitary 1's. Am I reading too much into this, or is the Para 2 coming out sooner rather than later?

By the way, I understand my question has been asked in several different ways, but thought I would throw it out for discussion.

TazKristi gave us word that Spyderco is looking for a July/Aug release date (nothing is set in stone, however). She also confirmed that the Para 2 will be replacing the Para 1 in Spyderco's lineup.

Thanks, I missed that post. I appreciate the update.

W&W in Canada have their old Paramilitarys on sale to try to clear the way for their new Para 2 stock, which they expect to be released in late July.

This knife just looks fantastic. I'm having a hard time deciding between this and the new Zero Tolerance/Hinderer knife. They couldn't possibly be more different as well.

I was thinking the same. But then I realized that the Spyderco is more useful and rides better in the pocket.

This is the spydie I was waiting for. I may just have to put the benchmades I have been looking at aside, provided it is manufactured in the Golden, Colorado factory. I'd still want it if it is manufactured in Taiwan, but I prefer US made knives, for no other reason than wanting to support the economy.

oops looking back at old posts. I saw I posted here already, I remembered reading this thread but not posting on it earlier. I guess it just shows people how much I want this blade.

The first version was made in Golden wasn't it? Don't see why this one shouldn't be.

Well why not get both! :D
That's my plan. I don't own a single ZT or even a Kershaw but I will own that Hinderer knife.

I know how Sal likes to do variations on a knife. I can see myself drooling over a Para II with RIL system one day. That's the fun with knives, all the options and variations one can make out of a popular model.

Anyway, my pre-order is with Knifecenter.com. I hope they're a big enough dealer to get some of the first knives. I'm ready for Para II now!!!;)

This is a stupid question, but oh well, I've never pre-ordered anything before: Do you have to pay when you pre-order? Or does it just reserve it for you and you pay when it arrives at the dealer?

You put the pre-order item in your cart, provide your CC info just like a normal order...everything is the same. Except they don't charge your card till they ship the item. Really easy except for the waiting part!!

I assume the dealer does pre-orders so it can say to Spyderco..."I've got XXX number of orders ready to fullfill" thus getting preference from the factory.

I think the para 2 with an RIL would be the cats a$$. as a side note, the gayle bradley would be amazing with one as well.

Some sites charge you the second you order even if they don't have it in stock. Avoid yourcornerstore.com

yeah it was. I'm sure this one will be. I have just noticed that spyderco has been increasing taiwaneese production, and stated that keeping production in the US will make me more likely to buy. And I also noticed that Golden is no longer the only factory producing s30v knives. My doubts were a very low percentage, especially seeing as I do not know of them shifting production of a model that was previously made in Golden to Taiwan.

I'm pretty sure that Sal has said the long run intent of Spyderco is to increase Golden CO production.

However, I have commented that the best built knives are currently the Taiwanese knives. So you could be on to a concern as Spydie buyers get used to the idea of high end purchases coming from Taiwan and start buying without reservations. We did that with the Japanese production afterall.

In the end, whatever helps to keep this company profitable and producing amazing knives is what I'm going to stand behind.

It says Made in USA on knifecenter.com so I guess it's confirmed.
