I would like to take a few days off but because of my business, it needs to be in or around Connecticut. Any ideas?

SHane,

I live in CT, but haven't been doing much teaching on the wilderness end here, mostly travelling and working with LEO/MIL, but if you want to get together and hang out and practice skills, I always welcome the chance to work on my skills with likeminded people. Maybe, you might want to consider starting a group here and we can all meet at certain times.

PM me if you are interested.

Best,

~Brian.

Brian,

That is a great idea. Maybe we can plan a northeast get together and camp out in the spring, if there is enough interest. What part od CT do you live in?

I'd be interested in that too. I'm in the Quiet Corner.

Interested here also. I am in Ma, but the tristate marker is only 1 mile from the house.

Hey, Folks,

I think we have the makings of a get-together...I'll get some ideas down and post them, and then we can start planning something.

Stay tuned!

Tom if ya want I can get my kit from the state and do a quick map compass and Gps Thing showing how to plot on a topo using the gps. Most people have switched to them so maybe showing how to switch back to a compass when the gps runs out of gogo juice or breaks could come in handy.

Shane,

I'm taking a fire by friction course in December in Augusta, ME. I live in CT too and am willing to travel for a decent class. The school is Maine Primitive Skills School. Check out the classes if you get a chance.

P.S. BRIAN JONES, I spoke with you years ago while working at EMS in Fairfield, CT. You turned me on to this forum and a couple others. Hope all is well with you and hope to meet up with you again somewhere to discuss knives, guns and survival again.

To any CT guys,

If you are looking for a place to camp and practice some skills, come by the canoe shop where I work. I live in Bristol and have been guiding on the Farmington for 9 years. The canoe shop where I work has a nice site for all of us if anyone is interested.
