Any survival courses in or near CT?

Might be time to revisit this as a summer event? Been healing up pretty well, and felling like summer is the time. Everyone still game?

Brian, you should try and make the WAR event at Marty Simons place in upstate New York in Sept. There is info about it on the Hoodlums forum.

Brian, glad :) to hear your doing better. I'm still in as long as I have a little lead time to make the necessay arrangements.

ok, I can move around. I will make every attempt to go if we are still doing this.

Brian,

I'm interested, if I'm not teaching anywhere on those dates. Probably drag Dan Stanchfield up too, he's out of the SEAL's now and doing some teaching.

Sorry, we haven't talked in a while. Been real busy traveling, lot going on these days, as you know.

What's going on? Are there still plans to do this?

I think fall would be perfect time. End of September-beginning of October.

Ok,

Time to revisit this hard. I'm putting together a proposed "subject matter" list, and will post it later today. Once it's up, will be looking for input, then will start a new thread.

Brian,
I am new to this forum but thought I might mention our WAR rendezvous. It will be held this year on August 31st thru September 3rd, 2007. This is a free event, held in upstate NY on our 537 acre preserve, next to the Canadian border. All are welcome. It is a gathering of great folks from all over who have similar interests in wilderness survival. Last year was our first WAR and we had 22 people attend. We had seminars and contests with over 12 knives given out in our free raffle. Bark River, Becker Knives and Razorback knives donated to the raffle. We had a great time with great people and great food.
We are always looking for anyone who would be able to present a seminar. I usually do one on edible & medicinal wild plants (My specialty). We will try to get Sgt. Mike to do one on his specialty (Personal survival kits).
This is a family friendly friendly event and all are welcome. I will post more later on.

I'm new to the forum I'm an avid outdoorsman/camper/hunter/fisherman et. etc. etc..... my survival skills at this point are strictly academic but would be verymuch into changing that and practicing some of the skills in a more dynamic environment or with others I live in nyc I would def. drive to ct for such an event but in the interim if anyone ever wants to hang out and play around with some skills I'm be down.

Would anyone be interested in a 3 day survival class with Myke Hawke from the discovery channel?

if so drop me a p.m. or email and we can set it up. 6 student minimum.

I just read that Sigarms in Exeter NH is now doing Survival classes. There is one scheduled for April and another in October. It's a two day class for around $350 if I recall.

Marty and Aggie Simon are holding a Summer Rendezvous over Memorial Day weekend at the Wilderness Learning Center. The event runs Saturday, Sunday and Monday. There will be a number of competitions such as air rifle, fire starting, cooking, etc. More information can be found on the website www.weteachu.com . I'll be there and hope to see more people from Bladeforums there.

Hi everyone,
Sorry, but I've been away for a while. Coincidentally, it's almost a year again. Maybe we should start this up again with a plan for this year-end instead?

Sorry everyone, this was meant for the sticky for the other CT gathering. If there is a gathering though I wouldn't mind hearing more about it.
