Yes, it does.Could you tell me if it has a full four finger grip?
I really like the look of the woodsman. How is the knife behind the edge? Could you or someone else share some pics of the tip and edge profile? I wanted to compare it to my crusher belt knife. ThanksMy last post here a few months ago was when I first got my Winkler Woodsman, have been on quite a few adventures since then with the winkler on my belt, and have gotten to really know and love the knife, I think it has taken the spot of the Bravo-1 as my favorite mid-sized fixed blade.
I would but I just reground it to 15 DPS whereas before it was around 20-25 DPS and man it made such a difference. It’s a pretty thick knife behind the edge, just like any other winkler. Soon as I took it down to 15 DPS, it really started performing outstanding, 80CrV2 is a very tough steel, it can handle that low edge angle. I had no issues with chipping even with light chopping on both some freshly felled wood and some nasty dirt covered dead wood and it now feather sticks and slices through wood like a dream. I even pried open a log to the point where the knife was bending around 15 degrees or so and had no permanent warping or damage. And at the end of this whole wood processing session it was still shaving sharp, so color me impressed with this knife, I just think to get its full potential it needs a ~15 DPS edge.I really like the look of the woodsman. Thanks that is great to know. I also really have been impressed by my knife. It does fairly well with notches and things but could be better. What sharpening system are you using to get to your 15 DPS? Do you think that is something I could do with my spyderco sharpmaker and my diamond rods?I would but I just reground it to 15 DPS whereas before it was around 20-25 DPS and man it made such a difference. I used a worksharp belt sharpener , took about an hour to grind edge knife fully down to 15dps on the slow setting, and I ended up fucking it up by not grinding the tip evenly so I fixed it on my worksharp field sharpener with the coarse diamond stone, which ground down what I needed shockingly fast. I was kind of wishing I hadn't sold my precision adjust at that point. I'd use low grit diamond stones, they really make quick work of 80CrV2, I don't think you're gonna have a good time trying to reprofile with a diamond rod. Thanks that is great to know. Wich size backer is that .. like it's made for it!!I recently updated my sheath system for the winkler crusher belt knife. I have a leather backer from The Knife Connection (note, they also make one without a firesteel loop). I added a hole to the top drop loop to allow a tighter fit on a 1 1/2 inch belt. I also added a hole in the sheath so I could add a leg tie down. Now the knife sheath does not move when I do a quick draw. I really love the setup now. Yes so I had to look back at my question to them. Its a #2 backer. The hole pattern spacing for the crusher belt knife is the same as an esee 3/4 so anything that fits them should also work. They also have a larger size and have measurements for hole spacing on the website. Those might fit bigger knives such as the field knife? However, currently I only own one Winkler so I can't check that. ThanksWich size backer is that .. like it's made for it!!
