Any Winkler fans?

Trying to decide between a Forest Edge WASP available now at a local dealer or waiting on a wood model like sculpted maple or walnut. The wood seems more traditional. But, the WASP is attractive too.

Does this help? 😁

I had the same issues trying to decide between the different scale materials.

I came to the conclusion, that there is no wrong choice and decided to try to get at least one in every scale.

Still need a sculpted green laminate and something in a rubber handle among a few others to round it all out.

They all look good together and complement each other nicely.

No wrong choice. Their wood is tough, but laminate is tougher and lower maintenance. I hit my wood handled Winklers with some wicked wax periodically.

Agreed. Woods like walnut and maple are quite tough and can handle a fair bit abuse. But if you really plan to beat the crap out of your knife, laminates give a little more peace of mind. I also find that even the textured Winkler wood handles are slightly smoother in the hand (though still plenty grippy) than the laminates. It's not a huge difference, but noticeable. There's upsides and downsides to the additional abrasiveness, obviously.
