Just to add another voice into the mix, this was my experience. I got on the list right away to order a Maverick. I got to order mine in May and when it came it had significant issues. There was blade play, and the action wasn't dialed in, and it was a good bit off center. Moreover, the swedge on the back of the blade was misground and visibly uneven.
I wrote to their customer service and they were super responsive, sent me the form I needed to send it in for warranty work, and paid for all shipping. I forgot to send it in for like, 3 months because life and I'm lazy and whatever, but then when I finally got around to sending it in, they emailed me a couple days later saying they had it and were working on it, then sent me a progress update the next day, and then had it turned around to send back to me a day or two after that. I think they may have replaced the whole knife, they definitely replaced the blade, which was what I had definitely wanted.
Anyway, the knife I received back was dead on perfect. No adjustment needed to get the action right, centering was perfect, the lockup was absolutely rock solid in all directions, the blade was perfectly ground, the factory edge was sharp enough that I haven't yet felt a need to sharpen it myself on the Wicked Edge, and that's saying something, most knives I get just go straight on there. I carried the knife for a month straight and it's still a top piece in my rotation now.
So, in sum, my two cents is that Tactile had some serious issues when they first rolled this out, as is well documented. They've also been up front about that. Since then, they seem to have dialed in their process very thoroughly and what is coming out now seems to be top notch. Their customer service was also the best I've probably dealt with from a production company before. So, for me what started out as maybe turning me off from them as a company has ended with, I'm definitely going to get their next model as soon as I can when it drops. They are doing great work, are honest and putting in what it takes to fix the bugs in their system, and clearly are committed to their product and their customers.
A US-based company worth supporting + customer service that's committed to making right anything that's wrong + designs that are excellent and unique = my business.
