Anybody get BCCI 347 damascus yet?

These were $127, and I wish I had ordered two! I am going to leave a review on the site now...

Knowing the steel is Damasteel (above) and the pattern is Raindrop (from the order form), I think we can conclude it is Damasteel pattern Rose™ with the steel DS93X™ which is a combination of RWL34 (lighter color pattern) and PMC27 (darker pattern) alloys. Both are Swedish made and offer a good combination of corrosion resistance and hardenability.
yep. that would make sense.....for those who arent familiar with those two steels.....similar to cpm154 and a powdered version of 12c27. a very good setup.

I think Makael's is damasteel. I thought damasteel was mirror polishable without needing to etch the pattern back in?

my mistake

^ ? you may be right? need Jeff to maybe comment and clear up for us all.

Not 100 percent but maybe that's what the blade looks like prior to polishing. Lol. Too many steels.

Damasteel offers a few steel combinations and a bunch of patterns. And apparently if you add different chemicals with the acid during the etching process you can get different results.

The Buck Oneset is Damasteel DS93X™ and looks similar to this knife, although I can't really tell what pattern it is.

It would have been nice to have received a Certificate of Authenticity showing this information (including an explanation of the numbering etched on the side, BCCI member # [a,b,c]/# produced?). Or maybe I lost my Certificate already... I've been known to do that

Should be in your mailbox. I got mine yesterday. A little late for my birthday, or, early for the next!!!

Just to clarifys I verified with Caleb C... the steel on this blade is in fact Devin Thomas stainless raindrop Damascus. My earlier guess of Damasteel was not fully informed. My apologies for any confusion.

This one is for sure Damasteel. Somewhat hard to tell by the pictures but the lighter blade steel is mirror polished while the etched pattern is dull.

Oh, glad we found out!

His Raindrop pattern comes in these three steel combinations (I will assume it is the first):

All Stainless Damascus - AEB - L and 304
High Contrast Damascus - O1 or 19C5VA and Nickel
Double High Carbon Damascus - O1 or 19C5VA & 15N20

ok. thanks y'all for clarifying. aeb-l and 304, so very stainless. plus aeb-l is great stuff.
really didnt matter, hard to go wrong with either stainless damascus we were chatting about. nice to know for sure though too.....:)

Still haven’t got mine. I emailed John. Hope it’s just hung up a little in postal service

Has anyone tried Caleb's (aka hengem) recommendation (see post 51 in this thread) to use acetone or some other similar solvent to remove the oil from the handles and thus lighten the color?

I emailed John who said he didn’t receive mine from Buck. He’s already made arrangements to have Buck engrave it early this week and send directly to me. Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Was it Nietzche or Tom Petty wo said the waiting is the hardest part?

I am in the same boat, buddy!

Slipped through the cracks. I am wondering if the orders were actually placed?

I am hoping that they don't rush them out!
