I just called VG and got his voice Mail again.
I left a message that we need to know if his keyboard and mouse are USB or not? I told him to call Tim or Ken or me so that somebody can post it here and get the final details worked out.

I spoke with VG and he has the old round connectors. With the money pledged we have $650.

Here's the breakdown:

Apple Mac mini: $499

RAM upgrade to 512MB: $75

Wired keyboard & mouse: $58

Total: $632

I'll kick down $75.00 total towards that goal. I understand that everyone else, including myself have lives, and that this might not be the most important thing in them.

I also know how much communication and community matter, especially when you are down in health and spirits. A few dollars probably does not matter to most of us (hell,we collect knives, for pete's sake), but a computer for VG would probably make a world of difference. Let's get this done!

:D Sorry we been missing ya. I think at this point you might wanna get Dave's address and send him a gift or something with that money :) ....maybe a gift certificate for some place or even just cash.

If the Mac-mini is covered you can still help VG.
Everyone needs to remember he still has no income. He's overwhelmed by all of the generosity so far. Still if anyone has a little extra you can send him and it doesn't have to be $50, you can send it right to him.

I sent him a letter with some $$, told him to put it toward his internet connection. Seemed like a good idea. Hate for him to get the comp then not be able to stay online.

Totally Judy here.... back from the UFO center where I have not been allowed computer access.

Wow. I had no idea about VG's situation. By the time I got to page 8, everyone had already contributed all the $$ needed for the computer.

But VG still needs money for his internet connection, huh? Do we know how much a month that is? Do we also want to get commitments from people to take responsibility for certain month(s) of VG's DSL access? It isn't gonna do him much good if he can't get online.

Besides, I miss having VG lick my legs.

I am running around the office this A.M. getting materials to pack up V.G.'s monitor. I will get it out this week. (I was wrong, it is a 17" incher but rated for high res graphics) so as long as it gets there in one piece, it should do the job.
 
I can go $30 - $40, so would someone mind sending me Kohai's snail mail address so that I may send it to him?
