Yes, VG is fine with checks sent ot that address. He will be moving soon, so this address will be changing. Maybe after he gets Internet access he wil prefer PayPal, who knows?

Not going to ship the computer out tomorrow. I am waiting to hear back from VG. I don't want to ship it and find out that he needs something else or would like something else loaded.

If anyone talks to him and thinks I should just ship it let me know. Otherwise I'll just wait....and ship it in a few days.

FoM, I think you're right to hold up until we hear from VG. I will try him a little later today and tell him to call you ASAP. I just hope everything is okay. I think it's a little strange that he hasn't called you back already. :confused:
 
I agree Phil!

I hope all is well with him. I left VM on his home and cell phone. Maybe he's like "who the heck is this guy"? :) I told him you sent me. Heck maybe he doesn't want a "Windows PC". If that's that case I would be happy to chip in with everyone else to hook him up with a Mac Mini.

We'll see what happens.

If we decide to do the mini mac count me in for $200.00 donation to the purchase. To repeat what has been said, this seems to be getting awfully complicated and maybe (IF) we can raise the money we just get the mini mac, send it to him and have him up and running again. I have just tried calling the house and Alicia's cell phone without being able to talk with anyone. I will keep trying in an effort to pin this thing down.

Unless I am adding wrong or someone has change their minds we are at 450...towards the mac mini- what else do we need for it? If we are that close and if phil is gonna take the funds let me know and where to send it and I'll send money tommorow....
 
As it stands I am still ready to ship VG my 700MHz Gateway if he wants it. I haven't heard back from him so things are on hold. I am also open to donating some cash if you all think he would rather have a Mac Mini. I am not to prideful to realize that the Mac Mini would make my 700MHz box look silly :D

When I hear back from VG or Phil or tallpaul I'll update this thread. If someone hears something before I do please let me know so I can either send the computer or chip in some money.

Whatever happens is cool with me. I'll help how I can :)

Can we get a list of who's in for what? I know I said I'd throw in $50. Thought I wouldn't have the funds but I sold some stuff so I'm good to go. Just let me know who to send it to.
 
So are we going to just do the Mac Mini thing?

If so, does someone have a PayPal account that I can send to? I would be paying via credit card so it goes quickly.

We should all try to dump money into one PayPal account I would think.

I agree this needs to get organized a bit more.

I've made a few donations to Dave, and I can afford one more.
I know what it's like to be broke, but not how it is to be in the position Dave has found himself.
Put me down for $50. That will take care of any tax and gas to get it to V.G.
Is there someone who can pick one up in LV, and then drive out west to V.G.'s home?
Fry's Electronics in LV might have one, and their customer return and service policy is good.
Just a suggestion as an alternative to online ordering, as you can get it right away, and it won't get lost in the mail.

Is there anyone in the Las Vegas area that has a Paypal account that can go pick it up an deliver it to VG? Those of us who said they'd chip in can send the funds directly yo your account and you can pay for it on a CC or by cash. The Apple store checked on the inventory and they have plenty of Mac minis in stock. If we can get another few bucks we can get him the $599 unit.
 
If no one else steps up. I could call the store in Vegas, and pay for it on my CC if they will do that. That would leave his daughter to pick it up, if that is an option.

Does anyone else have a better suggestion? Let's get this show on the road!! It's been too long already!!

I just figured that I would put it on my card, and people could send me a check. If that is a fly in the ointment, then someone else can step up.
