Anyone else looking forward to the GEC #83?

I think I have recerved to many of these back when they were announced. I can't remember which ones I reserved

I know I got the yellow clip, but the other three escape me. At least it will be a surprise and I'll get to figure out which two I will keep.

Considering how much I love my #72 (even with the wiggle), I am very excited to have another lock back in my collection. I have a yellow rose clip, tidoute jig bone clip, and cocobolo reserved. I hope these don't come out for a little while since the beer scouts put a pretty big dent in my net worth. I might have to dig up some of the coffee cans full of change I buried in the backyard. ;)

You know you're a knife knut when............:D

I am really hoping these dont turn out too small, like the Camillus #2 little lockback. The plan says closed length 3.36" inches and open is 6.0". The Camillus little lockback was 3.25" and 5.25" so we may be ok.

Doesnt that drop point blade profile look great! Sometimes the swedge they add to the Northfield blade really ruins the asthetics.

Also, unless I am mistaken, it looks like the drop point blade is deeper than the blade on my #73.

The handle does look like the 99 LB. What will the size difference be between the two?

Today I got my #42 in American Elk. Great knife!
No blade wobble (left/right), only microns of blade play (up/down).
Absolutely great craftsmanship!

Turns up my excitement for the #83 Stag to eleven!

This may have already been brought up, and is probably an obvious observation, but one of the reasons I think I will like this knife is because it is a sized down 73. Or, it least it looks like it imo. The lock is just icing on the cake.

I agree Brett ! In fact , I had an 83 in Stag reserved and then got a 73 in Stag because I think they will make a very nice pair because of the very similar shape.

I'd say it's a sized down #72 or #42, both already are lockbacks. But of course that's just semantics ...

I'm still contemplating that very same move ... ;)

It looks like the 73 'cause of the drop point style blade, but will also be coming out with the clip blade (like the 72/42). I predict this will be a super popular pattern in both blade styles, as it will be very pocketable and offer a lot of blade in a small package. Additionally, the lockbacks are really easy to open/close for those of us with arthritic hands. :)

With the 73 I got a knife that fits my hand probably a little bit better than the 83 will and a little more Stag. Those were the kickers for me .

Anyone know what scales the 83 is going to have? I would love to see cocobolo or some sweet stag.... or some african blackwood...or
