Anyone else looking forward to the GEC #83?

I have to say, these came out very well. Very solid lockup and a great pocket size!

Yes, spectacular. But it doesn't help deciding which one to get ...
I have funds for two #83, one drop point, one clip point.
The clip will be stag, but what else to get?
This is so hard to figure out. So many great choices! :D

If I could, I would buy them all. :D

I really wish they had done a NF line in ebony or african blackwood.

I can't wait to get these in hand.

I have one of these in my pocket now. I can't wait to put it through the paces. I haven't had one with any vertical movement, but I would expect that they will have some with some slight movement. That is normal for the GEC lockup.

I LOVE this knife.

Every one I have handled has had only discernible front/back movement. They have alleviated most side/side movement over the last year by taking the slack out of the joint and having a blade that only overcomes the resistance the last 20 degrees or so.

KSF has a bunch in camel bone, but I'd like to see stag or micarta before pulling the trigger. Any other sources out there?

I'm going to need to join a GEC support group pretty soon. I was all set to grab a Willamette Whittler, then I grabbed an ebony Beer Scout, and lo and behold, managed to snag one of the apparently last smooth ivory bone models to be had. Having decided now that I like ebony and smooth bone covers, I was all set to pick up an ebony Mako to pair up with my blue camel bone #63 purchased earlier this year. Then the 83s came in, and the ebony one looked great, but, I thought I was safe because there was no camel bone option. See, I thought I had a nice simple system, just get knives that come in both ebony and camel bone, in the few patterns that I like. That would keep me from going overboard. Now KSF has the 83 in camel bone...

"I thought I was safe..." :D

I understand. In fact, all on here understand :)

I needed another ebony. I only had one. :D

Thanks Mike

I am liking these a lot! I just watched the intro video and am trying to decide which cover to buy:)

BTW: I see that there seems to be some kind of logo etched into the backside of the blade ... anyone who can tell me what logo that is? Thanks! ;)

3 words ... pattern production and premier (as in new introduction). Not sure which order to read it in LOL. The 3 P's signify knives that are from the very first run of a pattern.

I have one on the way from KSF in black camel bone. I wanted KSF's #42 black camel bone but it was gone by the time I made up my mind and settled for the #30 black camel bone ... for those who were looking at the individual knives earlier. Most of the black camel bone has been snapped up. Only a very few left. They went QUICK !!!

Ah, okay, good to know. And pretty cool at that ... ;)

Yep. Currently my brain is working hard on deciding whether I want the camel bone or the tortoise acrylic for the drop point.

I always enjoyed 'savoring' a knife purchase for a few days before buying it. I would see a knife that spoke to me but rather than buying it right away, i would look around to see if i could find the same knife with different handle material, etc.
During the few days of looking and mulling over the idea of this new knife, i would get a pleasurable feeling of anticipation. It was all part of my overall enjoyment of acquiring new knives.
Now, with most of the GEC knives, i can't do this. One has to rush the purchase and pretty well grab the first one you see or it will go elsewhere.
I miss the 'good old days' when i could take time to savor a potential new acquisition.

Went for the tortoise acrylic. Would also like to get one in stag or mammoth ivory, if some are in the works.

I know what you mean, it's often like a feeding frenzy. Yet, sometimes I join in.
Last evening I passed on the #83 (black camel bone), only to buy one today that's nearly all white.
I'm glad I waited because I realized, a Smooth White Bone 83 was what I really wanted, (the small amount of black gives it character)
and I can honestly say, "I have a smooth white, black camel bone 83." ;):D:)
