Anyone else looking forward to the GEC #83?

We're slowly getting there ... as far as I understand the drop point Tidioutes are all done by now (and the camel bone version looks really slick). So tomorrow should see the first Northfield drop point, right? ;)

On a small LB like this one I would prefer it NOT to have a lanyard hole. No doubt I'm a minority of one on this :D even so, I'm still after a DP Tidioute or possibly Nfield depending on the jigged bone (Horsecut Walnut would be it!)

Well folks, a few of these were available at the Rendezvous today and they are amazing. Snagged this one in the Autumn Jigged bone. Best part about acquiring this knife was hearing from Bill Howard the story of the knife's name. In case you haven't caught it, the 83 LB is being called the Tascosa. Well, Bill explained that they wanted a western name so began to scour the Internet for a western saloon name and really didn't find anything suitable. They finally stumbled on an old pic of some guys drinking in a saloon and the Texan town was named Tascosa. Here's a quick snap of my Tascosa.

thanks for the bit of history on the Tascosa Ken...and even more thanks to the picture. very nice jigging on that one. The long pull drop point of the NF version is terrific! I have to look up now my preorder, droppoint or clip...

When you Rendezvous attendees get a chance, I'd really appreciate some pictures of the knife next to a #15 and a #77 to get an idea of size.

Spectacular knife, wow! I was totally convinced to get a Northfield clip point in stag and a drop point Tidioute from KSF's SFO of black camel bone... But this really is a beauty! Maybe I have to change my mind...

These were $96 at the factory store. I'll try to get some size comparison pics taken tomorrow. GEC did an amazing job with these!

Ken...sorry I missed you there. Might have passed by you unless you left before I got there and made my introduction.

I was on the fence with these but after seeing them in the factory, I'm definitely needing one! The cocobolos that we saw were fanatastic. I think that's the variant I'm after!

That's a beauty as well Dan

Very cool bone. Thought I was going to be able to pass on these and then you guys post these pics. Jigged bone DP ordered  Now Jake will have me scouring pics looking for a nice Cocobolo  Then there's the stag....

Jake,
My son and I will probably pop in for a bit tomorrow and definitely be there Saturday for the picnic. If you're going to be around would love to meet you. Matching faces to the names here on the forum is the best part of this event!

I have a question, how well do these lock up? I have a Titioute in green linen micarta coming but I may have to add a Northfield in cocobolo.

I inspected 5 of the Autumn bone before selecting one. I was really impressed with the lockup on all of them. Three had no vertical play and two had barely discernible movement. Btw, the OD Micarta were available also and I would have snagged one of them if I hadn't just bought an OD Micarta 73 last week. They looked great.

That is great news! Thank you very much!

Dan...I have 2 on order but think I will have to add this Autumn Bone to the list. Beautiful....thanks for the pic.

I think I have recerved to many of these back when they were announced. I can't remember which ones I reserved

I know I got the yellow clip, but the other three escape me. At least it will be a surprise and I'll get to figure out which two I will keep.

Well, I have paid for the tortoise and remembered that I reserved the dp cocobolo. I wonder what the 4rth one will be. Maybe, I only reserved three. :D We'll, see.

Fighting the urge for a stag clip. I would rather pick it out instead of blindly reserving one.

Huh?

Derrick of KnivesShipFree.com about the #83.
Nice to finally be able to feel the size of it.
Thanks, Derrick.

I have to say, these came out very well. Very solid lockup and a great pocket size!
