I have to chime in again...I can't resist calling this guy an ASS HAT one more time. The custom knives page is what gets me..how the hell do you retemper a CS OSS with the plastic handle on??? What the hell, Its funny, but its not.....I guess if you are stupid enough to buy his BS, than you have it coming. :barf:

I was thinking of the same thing...you have to destroy the Kraton to remove it. Maybe he found some surplus tactical kraton de-animator handles to use after he re-heat treats the knife?

:D:D

Mr. Lightning,

My fellow forumites and I are commenting on your site and knife, and frankly, having a lot of fun at your expense. Sorry if you are offended. However, in the interest of fair play, I'm sending you a link to the discussion so you can rebut if you choose. You will have to sign up as a member of Bladeforums in order to post, but that's easy. Please be ready, though, we are being harsh on you, mostly in fun, but also because a great deal of skepticism naturally occurs at the marketing claims on your site.

For a world-travelling "Tac-Tickle Operator," it seems he skipped the internet security courses...vague claims, an alias...sheesh...

This knife isn't even an original - it's a TOPS Screaming Eagle that J. Lightning modified. Don't know if TOPS gave permission or not. However, Lightning implies that he makes the knives without saying so outright. He uses the term "hand finished" on the first page...

I shot an email to TOPS. It'll be interesting to hear their opinion.

Not sure specifically, Bushman. He obviously is acquiring the TOPS knives, whether retail or wholesale I don't know, so TOPS would be making something off that. Unless these knives are the Chinese knockoffs of TOPS. Also, TOPS may have given their blessing in this case. If they didn't, then I'd think he needs to be honest about what and where these blades are from - he implies he's making them very strongly, but has just enough wiggle room to avoid a fraud claim I bet. If I recall correctly, you can change a patented product in the knife biz by 12% in order to avoid infringement. Now, determining what constitutes 12% is where it probably gets tricky. Anybody care to chime in to tel me if my patent info is accurate? I'm pretty sure it is, but not 100%.

:DRemind me not to go "Tin Ninja" around you guys...I think I just created a word...cool. ;)

Kiah,

So did I. I know Mike and Helene well. Hopefully, this isn't a friend of theirs that I inadvertently alienated! If J Lightning is a vet, and just not great at marketing, positioning, and pricing, I will be the first one to apologize to him.

Is "advertently" a word?

Now Robert doesn't have to hold back.:D

Only used by tactical operators, survival floss is much better than other so called "tactical floss" companies. ;)

But wait! There's more, right?! I'll take it, but only if I can rappell with it, and use it to winch my Jeep out of tight spots in a jam. Oh, and clean the artillery. Please confirm...:D Oh, can my girlfriend wear it as a tactical thong? WHOOHOO!!!!!!

Check out the CUSTOM KNIVES section and look at the $20.00 Cold Steel G.I Tanto he's asking $150.00 for

hmmm....

im pretty sure i can re-temper those cold steels in my toaster oven for free.

and although the paracord wrap is intricate, particularly around the choil, i think i can duplicate that as well.

wow. im gonna make a killin when all you knife people buy them up!

and he stole the name of his "flagship" from motorola. and what's with the bottle opener thing between the choil and edge?
