Anyone here smoke a pipe?

FWIW, my pipe collection is pretty tame compared to folks who smoke pipes a lot. I've seen some really big racks with a lot of pipes on various websites. Just a random Google search produced this quick pic, in which I count 80+ pipes. Moreover, my pipes aren't all that expensive, whereas the real afficionados will have tons of expensive, often custom, pipes.

Can someone reccomend a brand or something I can search for at ebay? I just browsing the catagory they have and theres some nice looking ones for like 5 dollars, and I am just assuming they are crap. This will be my first pipe.

Nothing wrong with a Grabow, which is what you find in most drugstores. These are usually filtered pipes though. I happen to think that Kaywoodie pipes are pretty decent starter pipes. I have one or two, and they smoke very nicely. Usually, you can find certain models new at a decent price. You might also find the occasional Savinelli at a good price. I woudn't spend a fortune though. Get a decent pipe, try it, and see if you like it. If not, you're not out a bunch of cash.

I been think a bit about making my own pipe can't be that hard. What I mean is that if you have the skill to make your own knife you should be able to make pipe.Must be a tutorial out there somewhere.

my first pipe was a Brigham, for about $30 CDN $. It was and still is my favourite.

While you're at it, drop a little salvia in your pipe. It'll give your pipe smoking a whole new experience. :p

dont do that.....

but if you want to sweeten it a little faster...pure honey....not alot but just a little in the bowl on the walls before you pack it and smoke...

Bringham pipes are nice, I like the wooden filter. I'd like a churchwarden style, but since the GF wants me to get rid of it to begin with.....
as for you sheesha/hooka smokers, try dropping some frozen fruit into the jar, keeps the water cooler, and adds to the flavor.

now, frog Morton on the Bayou is my all time favorite. I'll go thru a tin in several days. Big, puffy, rolling white clouds of smoke, its very nice for smoke rings, The aroma is incredible.

I need to buy some, I haven't had any in a year or so. Favorite smoke, period.

Aha, no thanks. Haven't been in the mood for salvia in about 4 years. Large amounts of whiskey or beer for me.
