Anyone into bicycles????

I can't remember if I put up pics of my home-made recumbent or not... It's... Interesting... Like you, I found that uphills were a bit of a slog. Otherwise, it was quite nice.
A few design flaws... I might haul it out as the weather warms and try to refine it.

Thing is made of three different bikes, an old piece of exercise equipment for the seat, and the bag and frame from my lawnmower for the seat-back.
The idlers are made from roller-blade wheels.
It has only one flaw... High-speed instability. It's quite stable pedaling down the road under 20 mph, but downhills, (where recumbents should excell) are a bit hairy. I believe the fork angle or "rake" is too shallow. Don't know what I can do about that other than having the frame cut and re-welded behind the headset.

I have two road bikes

Pegoretti "big leg emma" with full record

next bike will be single speed commuter

For what it's worth, I have a Turner 5-Spot '04(still stock w/re-furbished Romic!) and an IRO singlespeed mountain bike. MTBR.com and Bladeforums are my two most visited sites, by far.

several years ago I was in europe and we rented bikes to tour a city, dresden I think.. anyways when I got back I bought myself a road style bike but I just didn't get much enjoyment out of it because the city here is just tough uphill roads and such.. I decided to toss the bike in my dads van and head to the local "lake" which has a bike path around but I just wasn't digging it.. It did not feel like real nature/trails or the fun european city riding I had when I was abroad (great cobblestone roads, cafe's, architecture, nice flat roads and places to explore)

I ended up selling it on craigslist and hope one day I can get a nice bike if I ever move

This is my mountain bike...Cannodale F3.

And this is not exactly a bicycle but it also got two wheels, I greatly miss it since it has been sold about 3 years ago.

From a similar thread:

Here's my 1972 Mercian Professional which I've had since age 14. Some of the components have been slightly updated, but its basic Campy Nouvo Record:

Here's my commuting bike -- a titanium Airborne Carpe Diem with Campy Centaur triple -- very comfy ride:

This is a Raleigh DL-1 Tourist -- a design that goes back to the early 1900s. Note the slack headtube/seattube angle, rod-operated stirrup brakes and sprung leather Brooks saddle. It has 28" balloon tires and a 46" wheelbase. Super comfy ride. This is my "user" DL-1. I have a nicer one in storage:

This is one I threw together with spare parts on a Raleigh Super Course 531 frame:

I still have the Peugeot track (Campy Record track) bike I raced as a kid. It's in storage along with a '72 Bottechia Professional and a Lotus Pro, both with full Campy Nouvo Record. Also in storage is a 1961 Schwinn American middle weight with a springer front fork.

Last summar I bought a BSA 12-SPEED for $35. The price would be so-so except that it came with a brand new Brooks Pro saddle.

Also last summer I picked up a Huffy rail-Stingray-style bike.

I have a red Specialized Hardrock bought new in 1989.

Unfortunately, due to spine and hip injuries, I can no longer ride it.

I love cycling though, probably more so than motorcycling.

I've got a Litespeed Solano, a Bridgestone MB-3 and a Trek 1200. Plus the frame for my old Schwin Traveler.

All I have right now is my Rescue Special. I was working security for Austin City Limits and this one was left behind. Broken brake cable and a messed up crank.

No. I don't know what it is, really. It had been sanded down and re-painted. I want to buy another Mongoose though. Mine did not survive a rollover in the truck.

it's a bit of a franken-fixed. trek 1000c frame, budget CF fork, and "eno" eccentric hub allows for proper chain tension with vertical dropouts. fixed and simple. can't wait for warmer weather!

I have a first year Specialized Stumpjumper that I bought new in the spring of 1982. It cost me $600 (MSRP was $750). That was a lot of money to a poor college student and it took me a couple months to get it out of layaway from the Tempe Bicycle Shop. I haven't ridden it in years (I have a couple of motorcycles to ride). I'll head into the basement tomorrow and snap a pic.

I just recently added another to the stable. When I found out that Giovanni Pelizzoli was building bikes again (and saw the price) I couldn't help myself and ordered one. :D For those of you not familiar with the name, Mr. Pelizzoli was the founder of Ciöcc and was in charge of designing/building the Coppi bikes. He's been building frames since 1969 and is one of the last of the true "old school" Italian framebuilders.

The build is mostly 8 speed Record.

I have a GIANT BOULDER from 2004. A question if I may...

Would it make me ghey to buy only female bikes? I dont like trapping my grapes on the crossbar and it seems macho-stupidic to only say women should have a different geometry. Feminists love seeing men sterilised by steel, probably the reason why they dig all the crappy weird "X-treme doode sports" shit.
