Love wither one of those ideas - single or two blade. I would buy multiple covers. Now I need to go home and look to see what the old Camillus blade configuration was - maybe Buck carried it over from how Cami made them?
And while we're talking possibilities, how about putting the 301 in the Custom Shop with a single blade option? A single blade 420HC hollow ground brass 301 with elk or ebony would be amazing. Or a 2 blade in that config.
Quoting myself here to comment that I’ve been thinking a lot about the Mini Range Elite since I made that post this morning.I won’t be able to resist one of the Range models but I’ll have to go with the Mini because of blade restrictions in my location.
That’s nothing new. I have to consider that with every knife I buy that I intend to carry but I think the Minis are going to be pretty small knives considering the 2.6 inch blade and the 3.6 inch handle.
I’ll probably either love it or hate it but it will be fun to find out.
That size is tough for me. I have a mini bugout and the handle is listed as 3.75", and the little finger guard nub is really forward on that knife. For a small knife, I can still fit all four fingers on it. With the range at 3.63"ish as listed, and the finger guard being a little further back, I can see my pinky falling off of this handle.I won’t be able to resist one of the Range models but I’ll have to go with the Mini because of blade restrictions in my location.

I am inclined to agree but with a bit of an exception. I carried traditional style knives (slip joints) most of my life and many of them were much smaller at around 3.0 inches closed. A four-finger grip is not as much of a requirement for me as it is for many folks. I like a four-finger grip but to say that I actually need it would be an exaggeration. That size is tough for me. The Range Elites sound interesting. I often like a lightweight clip-on knife for Summer carry, so I thought about getting one when they come out, but I'll probably pass. I've found that the size & shape of the 112 just works perfectly for me, so until they make a lightweight 112 with Magnacut, my old 112 Slim Select will be fine.I am inclined to agree but with a bit of an exception. I will have to get a Mini Range in my hands to know for sure but I'm hoping it will be a sweet little knife at that size.
Yeah, Buck needs to get on the stick. There was a lot of excitement about several of the new 2025 models in January--especially the Range Series options and the 300 Series options. With the 300 Series missing the promised March release, there seems to be a slowdown of momentum and excitement. I wonder if the Range Series will also miss the promised summer release...or if it will run late into mid- to late-summer.
Bummer so far. We've got money to spend.![]()
I wondered that myself, and thought maybe Buck was getting rid of old stock before offering them in S35VN or Magnacut. After seeing the 112 May BOTM, I'm thinking that maybe they'll be offering the 110/112 Pro TRX lines in the Custom Shop, with added blade & handle options. They're too popular as EDCs to just go away.I've been wanting to get a 112 Ranger Sport, but it seems they are frequently out of stock along with the 112 Sport Pro TRX.
And now they're discontinuing the TRX? That thing is frequently out of stock, so apparently it sells well.
?
I see they are changing the blade steel on the take apart Sport from S30v to S35v, so that could explain the no stock on that.
Those are both knives that seem to sell very well, I really hope they get ahead of it in the future.
I just don't understand why they would eliminate the Pro TRX knives.?
Sigh.
I was finally able to order a green TRX 112 back in december after them always being sold out when i went looking for them. It has really replaced all my other bucks, as my favorite non work knife (just too new to abuse it like a work knife). s30v gets the job done and it is light as heck... l find myself wanting to carry a nicer 112, but never want to put the regular 112 pouch on my belt. they also seem to have fixed the thumbstud issue that was prevalent on the older micarta versions. All this leads me to be rather dumbfounded as to why they would discontinue it. hopefully they are going to bring it back with different steel.I wondered that myself, and thought maybe Buck was getting rid of old stock before offering them in S35VN or Magnacut.
