Anyone wanna help a vet???

WOW! Jerry not only stepped up to the plate here... but just blasted the ball out of the park!!!
truly amazing... way to go BUSSE COMBAT!!!

The team at Busse Combat would like to provide "Embrace The Suck" Satin Jack TACs for all of the members of your team who lay it on the line every day and continue to go above and beyond the call.

Outfreakinstanding! Way to go, Jerry. You continually make me proud to be affiliated with this scraggly (but honorable) crew.

I am touched very much by the heart of the Busse community. And when I saw the pics of the children and what some of our forces are doing to help out from there own pockets I began to cry. Then I saw what Jerry is doing to help. I still have tears running down my face and I can't even remember the last time that has happened.

Ken, I recently had a similar experience in reading Khaled Hosseini's two novels, Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns. Both were truly eye-openers as to the plight of the average Afghan citizen. While they are works of fiction, I recommend them both--not just for the cultural understanding they provide, but also for the appreciation they evoke for the things that we as Americans often take for granted. I've experienced none of the grim reality of Afghanistan first-hand like recondo4u (or leopardprey for that matter), but the books alone struck an emotional chord in me, and recondo4u's photos brought all those feelings and realizations home.

I read that story yesterday & got a big 'ol lump in my throught. This guy really needs to keep this knife!I can mail a check for $15-$20.Just let me know where to send it.:)

Well it appears I got back too late.My only regret is not being able to help this/our soldier out.All you guys are great!!:)

leopardprey, I can appreciate you coming back here and offering to help... I can also appreciate you stating that scams happen, and we are aware of this... But your post earlier was poorly written with regard to what recondo4u was trying to do. You called his integrity into question with your choice of words. He did not ask us to help him, he was just trying to sell his knife. He is well known here to many here, and that is why so many of us stepped up and convinced him to accept our help, and keep his well-earned knife but still accomplish the goal that he & his unit set out to do.

Also, please do not assume that we are a bunch of knife wielding gullible fools. Quite a few folks here are current or ex-military, active LEO's & first responders, and some here also work in certain positions in our government's intelligence community. Others have contacts in these areas and if even one of us felt that we needed to investigate further before offering our assistance, this would have been done. No one here felt that any inquiry was needed with regard to recondo4u, and that is why we did what we did without question. He is a stand-up guy, and a hero in my book.

Again, it is appreciated (at least by me) that you have come back and offered to help his unit help others... Now that you know more. I, however, feel that you still owe him an apology for what was written in your earlier post. I also would suggest that the next time you feel it necessary to warn folks of something, that you choose your words more carefully.

Thank you.

Dang, Jaxx, you nailed it. I couldn't have put it any better.

I also can't believe that you were sober enough to post so lucidly and so eloquently.
 :D

I just want to say again how much you all really are just the Greatest Group of Guys and Gals I have ever had the pleasure of knowing:thumbup:

GROUP HUG:)

Wow, I just gotta say it - MY hat's off to you, Jerry! You always make us proud to be here.:thumbup:

Jerry,

Only you and your team could have taken ACTION to focus this discussion in such an indisputable way. Steve and his guys really are on the line for all of us and they deserve our support. I also appreciate leopardprey for coming back to the table with a well done restatement. All in all, this is a great group of folks to be around!

Bill

Recondo, First of all I admire you for your service and what you are doing. Especially, now that you have explained a little more in detail. Yes, my posting may have come off the wrong way and I deeply apologize as from your other writings there seems to be truth in your post. But I am over here in Afghanistan as well, and have seen many soldiers taking advantage of companys and personnel back in the states. So before people just start sending off money for someone they should check out the facts. I have seen other here get free stuff from companys or Knife manufactures and then turn around and sell it on ebay with stories. It is sad but it happens. So just trying to caution others. (for example I have personally busted several soldiers for buying Randall knives, which Randall sells to military members overseas with a discount and also only several weeks waiting period, then these Soldiers had bought them knowing they could turn around and sell them on Ebay and sell them for double the price -stating such things as 'used in Iraq" "must sell for Family", "no waiting period, since right now there is a 3-4 year waiting period for a Randall, etc.. and collectors of course eat it up. To me it is deplorable using a Knife companyes generosity, to make a profit. There also have been others in the past -look up old threads- of people taking advantage of Busse this way)

If your team needs funding or money to help Afghan children, send me a PM with more details and your location. I can make some arrangements and coordinate with your commander. I probably have some of my personnel close to your location.

Hey Bro!

No apologies needed, I am a fire and forget type of person. We are all in this together.

This is a way cool thing to do Jerry.........way to step up!!!....:thumbup:

Leopardprey: I have nothing personal against you and do not hold grudges anyway. The way you word things just rubs me the wrong way sometimes. But that is just me. If you are sincere in your apology then I must give you props. With all the crazy stuff we all have to deal with in life there is no need for this place, our place to relax a little, to be anything but that. I'm done. As Jerry frequently screams at the top of his lungs, "Let's Drink"! :D

Well!!!

Where was I when all this happened??

Oh, yeah, now I remember...work and all that.

Looks like I missed out on a very interesting time.

Kudos to Mr. Busse and all you generous Hogs and Piglets. You're a great bunch, you know? ;):D

Recondo4U: Remember, keep your head down! Don't let all that new, shiny steel go to your head ... and keep an eye on your younger comrades. There is some sort of peculiar relationship between INFI and the testosterone level in young men.

PLEASE GUY'S NO MORE PAY-PAL, I HAVE REACHED MY PART OF THE FUNDING.
I REALLY DON'T WANT YOU TO KEEP SENDING MONEY. I AM OVERWHELMED AT EACH OF YOUR GENEROSITY. BUT PLEASE NO MORE. I HAD AN AMOUNT THAT I WANTED TO REACH BY SELLING THE BATAC I HAVE REACHED IT PLUS SOME. AS I SAID YOU HOGS ARE AWESOME. I told Progunner that this type of thing can be somewhat difficult to pull off, the corruption and down right willingness to steal on the part of some of the Afghan contractors make this hard to do. So with a little luck and working with the right people, I think we can make this happen. We helped get a well put in back in August.

<Chuckle>

This sort of thing has happened before. Americans can be ... very generous. :D

BTW, in that part of the world they don't really think of it as 'corruption,' but rather as just a part of doing business. A real pain in the a**, ain't it? :grumpy: Don't let it make you cynical, though; it seems to me you're making a genuine difference. Most folks will never know that feeling.

Don't hesitate to come back sometime soon for more help. If you feel hesitant or in some way shameful ... DON'T FEEL THAT WAY. Instead, think of yourself as our local junior Ambassador to Afghanistan.

Hmm. "INFI Ambassador." That has a nice ring to it. :);)

[And, if you'd rather, you can always e-mail any of us at any time ... assuming you feel uncomfortable making this sort of thing so public.]

I'm with Old Physics. Recondo, I may not have been clear about the buddy list thing but I am inviting you to invite me to be involved in future projects by any channel you chose. I am embarrassed at how easy we have it here during war time. I don't want to be detached from such noble efforts. And I'm sure everyone here will step up as they are able so stay in touch for sure. Keep up the good fight and stay safe .

I mirror what OP and Dunner have said. Anytime you need help, you drop the dime to me and we'll get some to you without all the public hub bub.

I just read through this thread and must say, well done HOGS! Jerry, you are the man, talk about getting it done, nice job all around guys!! Recon, thanks for doing what you do!!!!!!!!!!

I was traveling Thursday - sporadic forum access. It's late now and I'm back home with the family.

I wish all the best to you and yours, Recondo.

For the rest of you swine... you make me proud.

Let us know if there is anything else you need.

Oh, yeah... you rock, Boss!!

I'm sorry I missed out on this, but I had to step in and say how very, very proud I am to be part of such a wonderful group of people! Recon, thanks for your service. HOGS, a cloven-hoof salute to all of you!
