tuna isn't the only lean protein around ...
and if you're fed up with turkeys breast, take turkeys breast with habanero powder ... (or something with more oomph if you are so inclined)

actually, it would be nice to share some ideas for meals ...

I do have quite a bit of muscle that I would hate to loose. I have suffered from that in the past by dieting. It is difficult to intake enough lean protein to do that though, it seems. One can only eat so much tuna :barf:

Yes, there is a bodybuilding shirt out there which says it best-"I Drink Tuna"
I try to keep an open mind toward food so as to not get to bored, I stick to chicken beef fish and deer for the most part and then protein shakes to fill in the gaps.

ROCKIN ROLL It seems like we started this just a week or so ago but look how fast 22 pounds drops off.
good job!

Totally only half the story though. Kate also has seriously increased her activity level and gained ALOT of muscle mass, so the weight lose is alot more impressive than saying 22lbs. She lost a quarter of herself.

I really need to tighten up on myself a bit to. I haven't lifted since I've been in TX and while I've lost some weight, I'm sure some of that was muscle.

I'm 6' ish and right now I weigh in at around 255-260. I was up to 280 for awhile:eek:.

I need to get back to jogging and lifting regularly.

For sure man, I've seen pics of you as well, and you as laser have a large frame build so you have a lot of good to work with. Get on it! You know this but anything I can do just give me a call.
The heavest i've ever got in a bulk was 230 flat

Geeez... I was feeling bad about my 160lbs... I'm 6ft.... But I could lean out a lot more then I have.

My biggest problems right now are a bad left shoulder and right elbow. Hurting alot more than ever before lately, not sure if it's because I'm not lifting regularly or because I'm getting old.

I was in martial arts my whole life and lifted very actively for most of my life. 6 months ago, I was in the worst shape I've ever been in and I have no intention of going back.

250 260....lol....lightweight....:D

Gawd, say that again.....:D

You sound as though you are most likely an ectomorph so you will be lanky with a fast metoblism where Hubs is most likely an endo to maso morph
That is why no one elses diet will grant you complete success; everyone is different and your body does thing in a standard method but on an indivdual bases. Like with shotty we started with a set base and then when our progress began to slow and we would hit platues we had to start tweaking and changing things around again based completely on how her body responded.

Great sites to check out are Bodybuilding.com and musculardevelopment.com

Now just because you arent into competing and wearing speedos dont let that blind you from seeing the wealth of information that lys within those minds and sites.. those guys and girls on there are pros at manipulating there bodies.
That is what it is about; being able to quickly effectively change your body to preform its best at any desired task what ever it may be.

I have some rough spots as well a shoulder injury from when i was young; I was hit by a vechile while riding a bike. I also have a tender elbow, Its about working around your injurys; bodybuilding is about working around injurys because the very act of building and inspiring growth requires injuring your muscles.

i never ate ANY tuna! not 1 bite! I HATE tuna. I ate a lot of chicken. I started off w/a lot of hard boiled eggs. I can't eat eggs anymore. If I have to try to eat an egg it makes me gag now.

I have some awesome recipes that are tastey. A few of my faves are to take ranch dressing POWDER and shake it on chicken breast then add about 1 c of water and bake for 45 minutes. You can do it w/ regular ranch, fiesta ranch for a bit of spice (w/ fat free sour cream is good!), spaghetti sauce powder packs (they're in the same aisle as the gravy packs) add the c of water after it's done baking pour it all over some cooked pasta. It's awesome! kids love it too.

I also make a lot of stir fry. Chicken with veggies and white rice. When I do serious cutting I won't eat red meat since it's high in fat. I've also pretty much cut ground beef since it's also high in fat. Some things I don't miss at all.

I think for me the key was having something for breakfast! I usually have a protein shake (made with skim milk) or a protein bar w/ a glass of skim milk. Then i do my best to eat every 2 hours. If I started my day on track i kept my day on track (most of the time).

It's funny, with the exception of this last month or so (Holidays) I actually eat pretty good food. But I tend to eat three huge meals a day. When I am disciplined enough to eat 6 small fist sized meals a day I loose weight fast and I feel great. But it is very hard to stop and eat ever 2 to 3 hours with my career, even though I am self employed.
Here is a current pic of me taken yesterday on a hike. With my RAT of course!!

I find the hardest time for me to keep my meal on check is during school; I work full time then i leave straight to school for four hour classes and then straight home for my workout, thus it is critical to prior plan my meals.
I buy 25pounds of chicken and 10pounds of beefsteaks or turkey burger, I then break that up into one week portions and bag and freeze them; on sunday and wed. I will spend an hour or two at the end of the night in food prep fro the week to come. That includes cooking up chicken and beef/turkey and then baging indivdual servings of brownrice or pasta with some frozen veggi's in there.
Now after this is done every day i will wheel my wheeled travel case around which contains my 6meals and one preworkout shake; this inables me to grab and go. Remember your water as well, i drink a gallon a day if not more. that is my system

seems like alot but it is really not a big deal once you got the flow of it, no different than having your edc kit with you at all times.

Ya know, that's a great idea. DUH! I have a FoodSaver too sitting collecting dust in my kitchen. Thanks crowdog!

I dont know if your fond of deer but that is a great option as well, I prefer taking and processing my own game rather than store bought any day.
I will take three large does for a winter of usable meat.
But it comes down to avilable resources; if you are near a large body of water, use that and get good deals or catch your own fish and freeze it in correct portions to make it easy. I think this is a great thing to expose kids to; living within the means of your region.
I have chickens which every morning I go collect 4-5 eggs that become my 1st meal.

thats cool. where i live i would have to go really far just to get to a rural area. you should take venison sausage and those eggs and make a breakfast omelette!

Yes, I love deer/venison. I hope to be lucky enough to get a few this coming year. I am not a good hunter, I wasn't brought up to hunt. However I have a friend who is a very good hunter who is going to teach me this coming season. Speaking of that, would guys recommend a Izula or an RC-3 for processing? Or is there something else you prefer?

LOL up here in the Northwoods you could pretty much just drive for a few hours and whack one.
RC-3 hands down
I izula worked but the paracord was left filled with tallow and blood; now if your izzy had scales that wouldnt be a problem but you would still be left desiring a bit more blade, or at least I and my brother was.
The RC-3 or the RC-4 is great for the task.
The RC-6 was to big for most aside from the ribcage.
