Apology PLEASE READ

I've bought probably 35 knives from various folks throughout this site without a single problem.

Same here. I have not had any problems on the forums here at all. Not all transactions were perfect, but as long as both people are happy with the transaction, terms, and execution nothing to be too concerned with.

Well I'm getting what I expected. Those of you with positive or encouraging feedback thank you, and the others who want to sock me in the face I understand. It will be on each and every one of you in the future weather or not you want to participate in any exchange with me, we would definately put safeguards in place to assure you your safe. I know that no matter how fancy the words and how good the intentions doesn't mean a thing. I guess if curiosity is getting the better of a few of you, I've layed everything else out there. I am in recovery I have been clean and sober for 3 mos. I am an alcoholic and Herion addict. I am not stating this for anything other than I was asked it is not an excuse. I am aware that I could register under a different name and use my work address. I am not doing this so I can trade knives, 90% of the knives I have are from ebay or the company. I like being a part of the wealth of knowledge and I love knives and always have. I know I have no integrity no one will trust me I'm labeled a theif I get it. It is what it is and if two years from now this moment still defines me than so be it, I guess I move on. This is nothing more than an apology im not trying to get something from any one.

I am going to post this in a few places on here because I want as much of the community to see it as I can. (( merged ))

I would like to start by saying I'm sorry first and foremost to Jaydev for my actions. They where nasty and 100% undeserved. I will get back to that in a minute. Also I want to apologize to you people in this great community. For the most part you all have good integrity and I want in time to become a part of that. I thouroghly enjoy reading, learning, and enjoying the knife collector community. Like any community you have alot of good people with some dishonest, scamming, and thieving people sprinkled in here and there. I have as of late developed a reputaion as the latter and well deserved at that.

About 10 months or so ago now Jaydev and I on another forum met and started talking and made a trade. It was a Spyderco Manix Sprint run s90v on my end for a Gold class B/M from his end. Everything went very smoothly as a matter of fact as alot of you know Jason is an outstanding guy and a pleasure to communicate and trade with. We talked a little more and decided to trade a Sebenza for his Ritter/Wilkins Grip. Along the way I decided somewhere to screw him out of his knife, it was by no means anything to do with him.

It came shipping day and he went to the post office and shipped his knife and I went and shipped a lamp to flashlight. I shipped the lamp because #1 I could show a tracking # that I did ship out something and #2 I could start to build a bs story. Needless to say I got the knife as promised and a day or so later I got an E-mail or call I cant remember which, but he was quite displeased and I lied and said my wife shipped out for me and got two items mixed up and knife went to a friend of mine who would ship it back and I would in turn ship to Jason. All bs, I also said I never recieved his knife, he did have delivery confirmation but no signature. I guess in my mind it left that tiny bit of doubt so I could skate out without a huge issue. To sum it up I insisted that I never recieved the knife, so obviously "why would I send you mine you probably where trying to screw me" is what I said and he kept on me for a month or so and then it stopped.

I knew there really isnt anything you can do on a bad trade online. I guess call local law enforcement who will laugh it off. Or in my case I was on probation and on the thread that was started about this incident they were talking about calling my P.O. who to be honest wouldnt have cared less considering his case load is in the thousand something range and also I was originally scheduled off probation on January 13th but I completed all the conditions and he was busy and didn't want to schedule me again so I was let off a month early.

So I was going to use the knife as an edc but after I got it I felt very guilty and locked it up in the safe instead. So I was off the forums for a while and then I got on here and started doing some trading again. One of the knives on the trade block was Jasons, he saw and from what I understand got ahold of the guy who traded for it and he offered to give it back to Jason free of charge but Jason ended up buying it back from him. So this thread started on here about all this and I lied to all you people in the thread, which was absolutely pointless because it was pretty cut and dried what happened.

So Esav sent me an email saying he was blocking me until we get this resolved. I couldn't do it anymore. See I'm turning the page in my life and stopping alot of old behaviors that have kept me in ignorance and kept me manipulating people to get what I want. I'm the worst kind of theif too because I can come accross as the nicest guy you've ever met and then blindside you, just like with Jason. If you were to ask him what kind of guy I was after the first trade we made he would have said outstanding. Back to what happened, I contacted Jason gave probably a worthless apology (not unlike this one) and he responded with outstanding charactor and we are working together to get this monetarily taken care of. I will pay the original price plus the price he purchased the knife back for. I can't say enough good about Jason we are lucky to have guys like him around, he has been respectful to me and has gone beyond to help me get on the right track. We actually communicate in a friendly manner about all sorts of things a couple timies a week.

So all that being said I hope you guys will at least let me stay around and perhaps start the trade and buy end at some point as well. Jason has offered to middle man trades for me if need be, also I would be willing to send my item and upon recipt and inspection of mine then send yours. It will take time to build trust again. Now I want to say I have started a good job about three weeks ago and my main source of income is commission with a small amount of weekly pay. So I have not paid Jason yet we have planned the date I get paid my comission and I keep in close contact with him. So obviously no buying or n e thing till he is squared away.

I guess that is all. I tried to be as candid and honest as I could and I know some probably most will think too bad stuff it up your ass. I understand that and can't say my reaction would be any different, but I have been let back on here pending evening up with Jason and I expect I will be under close scruitiny as well by some of you and mods too. I am not trying to lay a bs line on anyone here nor am I in any way excusing my behavior, also am asking nothing from any one just an opportunity to be here we'll say as a rehabelitated member of your community. Thanks for taking the time and reading and I hope if this stops somebody else from screwing somebody I guess it was worth it.

Thanks, Ben...My spell check won't work either so sorry bout that..

Wow. From what you say, Jaydev sounds more forgiving than most (including I) would be. Good luck and all, but I'd never deal with you.

My mother's ex-husband is also a 'recovering' alcoholic and heroin addict, con-artist, and an occasionally repentant but continual thief. He recently lost a foot to diabetes and has lost almost all kidney function. He's in constant pain and almost all of his family has abandoned him. To me, he's a worthless waste of oxygen and I wish him a long, painful, miserable life.
People like you eventually get what they deserve and a single apology won't save you from it.

I too will wait and see what's happens.

But, I too agree you should take yourself out of the Exchange. I mean, there is only one rule really, don't screw people over. But you did. You should have made this right the second you got his Gold Class knife in your hands. Shoot, lie and tell him the flashlight bulb was a mistake and ship the knife ASAP. A couple days late sucks, but its better than never. Do the right thing, pay him back and keep yourself out of the exchange.

All I know is that you can promise to be good, but past actions have shown your word to be no good. Past performance dictates future behavior.

I sincerely wish you luck in turning your life around, many of us know just how hard that can be.

Now go, walk straight and true, just like the blade of a young mall ninja.

I like the red letter idea. tattooed on his avatar.
If I did a deal with this guy in the future without knowing his history, and it went south, I would be irate finding out he had confessed to this behavior and been allowed to continue trading on BFC! Its like letting a convicted child molester hang around a playground. For what, to what end? to demonstrate forgiveness? I forgive and am optimistic about his turnaround by why let him on the exchange, its an outrageous prospect.

Hey bf members,
First off I would like to thank all of you guys! Never before have I seen such a great bunch of people trying to help me out! I agree Ben did something that was so awful that it can not be forgotten . For my own piece of mind I do forgive him because he is trying to make things right. I spent over a year obsessing on how to get him back and it really robbed me of piece of mind. I learned a hugh lesson from this. First, make sure the person I'm trading with has positive feedback on bf (not e-bay) also get signature confirmation.
I have to give Ben credit for admitting he was wrong and trying to make things right. He has been in contact with me and is planning on paying me back. This whole experience was a great one because I became close with a lot of members on here and out of all my trades, buying, and selling on here have all been great !

Thanks,
Jason

I've bought probably 35 knives from various folks throughout this site without a single problem.

And if any one of those folks decided to screw you out of your cash, you'd be up poop creek without a paddle - since, as with just about every case of someone getting fleeced of their money or gear in a trade on an internet forum, there would be just about nothing you or anyone else could do to prevent it.

Nobody should take that as a slight against this website, as "Justin Howell" seems to have done, and certainly not as a personal insult. I just don't like to rely on the good nature and honesty of faceless strangers. I'm sure 99.9% of all deals go smoothly and 99.9% of the people who trade are honest and forthcoming and all that, but I personally don't like to chance it.

I second every word in this paragraph.

Yeah, I guess I just like the feeling of taking risks in life and living on the edge.

The apology is a step in the right direction, but it doesn't "fix" anything. At least you understand that. I'd suggest maybe not trading or selling here again permanently.

If you do trade or sell, you ship first, always.

Stick around a while, contribute something worthwhile occasionally . . . but mostly, read and learn. There are a lot of great members here that share a vast amount of knowledge. It's a privilege to be a member and be a part of it. The trading & selling part is a nice bonus, but the knowledge shared is priceless, IMHO.

If you really have integrity, create a permanent signature line in bold red letters that references this apology thread. That way everyone who may deal with you knows what's up.

Just my thoughts.

Maybe a red letter R (for ripoff) next to his avatar for a year would do instead of walkin the plank.

Let him make restitution and then the mods can decide if he walks the plank. I don't underestimate the efficiency of Bannin thieves. I would forgive a thief but never forget about him.

Can't stand a thief. The only reason you're issuing the apology is to try to save face. Had you not been such an amateur and got caught you never would have addressed this issue. I'm just glad to see that the folks on this site police the joint the way that they do and look out for one another. Could care less what happens with you.......

Arggh Matey, your right. I may have jumped the gun me judging a man before I've walked a mile in his shoes.
