April Buck Of The Month

The opportunity to buy a custom 916 for 280.00 is something most of us don't even have.
I would agree that the lower end knives your discounts are nothing special .
But in a few of my knife buying indiscretions :) I bought 2 limited run 916 knives from Buck. Lets just say they wanted much more on the website.
If Buck actually stored your previous orders in your account I could tell you how much ...but i am better off not remembering that bill

On the first day there must be 300 plus people standing at the door. I'm sure there are thousands of people that visit the week of the sale. I only know of a few people from the forums who go. Who knows how many BCCI members go.

The more expensive knives tend to sit. Not much activity on them. The middle of the road product goes first.

The build outs are always cool. Buck does a great job at these events. A lot of people from the shop are on hand at the tables. Knife sharpening Joe Houser, Jeff Hubbard etc are there. It's worth the trip if anyone has the interest. You see license plates from all over. West coast mainly.

A number of years ago (in the 10-15 range), Joe H maintained an email list to which you could request to be added (don't know if that was limited to BCCI members or to just anyone) and a list of store sale items would then be sent a day or so before the sale. One could then call the store and purchase whatever knives were available at the time that the sale began. That only lasted for two to three years as I think it became too much of a hassle for the store, but it certainly gave those individuals who didn't live nearby the opportunity to purchase some of those items.

that would hard for him to do now----as the customs sell off the tables more are built daily and added to the tables---some sit but a ton of them sell---they are not cheep...

Back when that was done, there were few, if any, customs. Most were just build-outs, but there was still some pretty unique items, and none were all that expensive.

As I mentioned before Buck is going in different direction and I am sure it is to make them more profitable. It just seems like before there were limited runs of a 1000 and they sold for cheaper money.
Maybe they figure your average Joe isn't going to buy 150.00 knives so they make them in really low numbers at a higher cost to remain profitable. It just seems that the secondary market is making more off them then Buck is .

seems that the secondary market is making more off them then Buck is

probably not---example----the 120 general is 160 plus sales tax on the buck website----that seller on feebay has it listed for 259.95--so that is less than 100 dollars and then feebay & paypal collect 15% of that----not a big margin of profit there for the seller do ya think???? and then this seller offers free shipping so his profit is running maybe 60 dollars at the best on a 160 dollar investment...

Question... is the buck of the month knife limited to (1) knife per purchaser or can you purchase multiple knives when they list them?

I would think having a 3 day grace period would allow many of us collectors the opportunity to purchase and if there’s any left after let the guys who buy to list on eBay have at them.

I think buck is all about making money--I don't know---but I don't believe there is a limit--what I have seen so far there is nothing left on the bones to buy and resell on feebay....

So how many of the BOTM have you seen on ebay??

You can't stop someone from buying something with the intention of reselling it. Even a 3 day Grace period doesn't do a thing, get one if you want one. If you have to think about it you may miss out. And if you do miss out you can't blame anyone else. Or get mad if someone lists it on ebay.

Some sellers are collector's.

I was referring to the limited editions that come out every few months. Like the damascus alpha hunter that was on Bucks site that is now list on the Bay. There is no way they are buying those at full list and reselling them

I'm curious why you think that.

I found the knife on the bay. That particular knife sat thru three Buck sales and never sold. I picked that up for Craig after it was discounted. Those very expensive knives typically sit thru a sale.

I’m not trying to ruffle feathers with my question but from what I’ve read on this forum there have been members that missed out on the BOTM knives and they have sold very quickly.

What’s the harm in allowing all BCCI and BF Buck members a chance to order (1) knife before the hyena dingos?

That's the point. The resellers are also BCCI members. Set a notification for Buck emails. Even if you do though the knives could be gone that quick. What if there is only 40 available,
And you dont have to be a BCCI member to collect. Anyone signed up to receive emails has a shot. It's the only fair way for Buck to do it. BCCI has specific knives that members get. I don't even see those on here....... and they are a BCCI only knife.
Order one you want. Guaranteed to get it.

Hyena Dingos?

I think he is referring to the feeding frenzy that takes place when the BOTM hits the website. Dog eat dog in other words.
