April Buck Of The Month

I have no problem either way, whether there is a transaction limit or not. That being said; I do agree it's a little foul for someone to snatch a bunch of them up to flip for a profit. To double the cost (or tack on a ridiculous amount) knowing someone wants it for their collection is predatory, and you should be ashamed of yourself IMHO.

If it's something special, I'll pick up at least one of them. I've only bought one each of the 112 and 303 so far. The 303 was for my collection and the 112 was for a fellow member here who collects 112s. I wasn't sure if he was going to have the opportunity to get one before they sold out so I picked one up just in case. And it's a good thing I did. The difference between what he would have paid Buck and what he paid me was the cost to ship it to him.

Is the difference between 100 knives and 200 or 250 knives that great in collector or resale value?

Is it that important that you would deny forum friends the opportunity to buy something nice? And then call them names?

I just think this flies in the face of everything Buck is supposed to stand for. I have a sour taste in my mouth.

Nobody is denying you anything, it's all in your head. You don't like the rules so you're a victim? BS!!! Yes, if they only make a 100 of something is a lot more valuable than if they make 250 of the same item, why can't you figure that out? What name did anyone here call you? I believe you got a sour taste in your mouth, it's called "sour grapes"...

You're right, there was no name calling. Just rude comments that I don't think belong here.

I'm a collector and seller...I collect as an investment and I sell to buy more investments, what's wrong with that. You guys that's always crying because you didn't get one, get over it...You have the same opportunity as the rest of us. You want everybody to change the rules just for you? I haven't heard one you say that you bought the mini-spitfire? So quit belly-achin' and look at your email more often and as soon as you see the email from Buck drop everything and get your order in and you'll probably get one. Don't just sit on your hands and cry until someone bends the rules for you. Where in life does that actually happen and how many other knife makers have a program such as BOTM...

Now that I understand you make a significant amount of profit with a 100 run over a 200 or 250 run, I understand your angle. I am not in it for the money and I don't sell anything. We are on different sides of the fence and that's okay. I'll stick to the ones I can snag, like the SKBlades Vantage announced earlier today and still available. I'll stop commenting on what I think BOTM should be.

Don't worry BuckShack, you haven't missed out on anything. Do you really want a $100 303 in elk?? and that was the best BOM so far. Like you said, the Vantage is just as desirable and much more practical. I didn't realize that just since Sass didn't like his mini spitfire and sold it, made him a seller. but we all learn as we go. Lets hope the May BOM is a 904 110 combo pack in tambia wood and Shark Ivory with a gorilla leather Holster sheath:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Till tomorrow:);):(:mad::confused::cool::p:D:eek::oops::rolleyes:o_O:poop:

I really wasn’t trying to stir the pot. From the responses I’ve read I guess I have. In fact I hesitated responding to this thread because I’m sure I won’t change anyone’s opinion on this matter.

Personally, I only collect folders. I would have liked to purchase the March BOTM 303. I missed out and I’m not crying about it but I have read multiple times that other members here also missed the opportunity to purchase a knife because they sold out so quickly.

I know I’ll get the opportunity to bid on one soon.

If it were up to me (obviously it isn’t) for the first 24 hours I would limit the sale to one knife per IP address allowing my loyal customer base a shot at purchasing the monthly knife and after that let anyone who would like to purchase additional knives have at them.

I'll never see a new Randall, not from the factory. I know one dealer that gets them regularly and marks them up several hundred dollars. I'll probably never see a new GEC Barlow either. Some of their dealers are inventing ways like lotteries to make it more fair. That's why I don't get it. Buck has the resources. Make them, sell them. People will buy.

Go to Buxton knives web site. Click on available now. Real Randall's, some bare bones some tricked out. All at the factory price. Pick one you like. Write down the options, go to Randall's site and price it out, same price, no wait.

When you find shark ivory and tambia wood, I'll shoot the gorilla if you skin him...

P.S. I've edited most of my response to SHB, I misunderstood what he was saying, Sorry SHB...

You're right actually. I really didn't care for any of the BOTM knives so far, except for the 303 elk and that was terribly overpriced. It was the process that just didn't seem fair, but that is Buck's business. And they can keep it. I unsubscribed from their emails.. I'll stick to the SKblades and C&C unique offerings. They do it right.

Sorry, thought this was funny. Good luck guys. Watch your emails for BOTM knives.

Please explain what's unfair. I don't get it. Did someone buy a bunch?

I haven't seen anything on here about that. All I have seen was frustration about missing getting one.

I wish I would of gotten a 303. I'll search online for a stag 301

If Buck wants BOTM to be an extremely limited amount of knives each month that is their business. If they want to send an email each month to show me what I will not have an opportunity to buy that is also their business. I just don't think it is smart business. And I really don't even want to know now.

SKblades, C&C and BCCI, others I'm probably missing, have Buck make something special and try to give everyone an opportunity to buy it. That's my speed.

I don't know what else Buck could do that would be more fair honestly. I don't know how many people are signed up with Buck to receive notifications but I'm sure it's huge. Buck typically runs large numbers of knives. These BOTM knives are an exception, which would mean less of them available.. So far I haven't found a knife that I fell in love with. But I can tell you within 5 minutes of shopping online I can find a few I do fall in love with that I can purchase without worrying about anything. Now the SK Blade vantage has a limited run of 250 I believe, so do the guys who wait 30 days to make a decision get upset when they are all gone?

The numbers of knives built makes the BOTM more exciting. Sucks if you miss out, joy if your lucky to get one.

I think it's great Buck is doing it. Other manufacturers don't offer this program.

It's Buck promoting their brand. It's a dog eat dog business. Keeping up with the fads, super steels etc

If your coming in July you will see a lot of knives only available for the event. Maybe saving 100 Bucks a month for a couple months will allow a Custom Knife purchase.

I wanted to get one of the 303's too. I want a good stockman so bad. I have a few nice ones from Case, but their steel isn't great and I don't carry them much. It's hard for me to get over the weak springs on Buck's stockman patterns. After about a day it gets on my nerves and I don't carry it anymore. But....I could have overlooked it for that stag. I'm really holding out hope for a cool 301 coming down the pike....

Let's see, SKblades have a certain amount made of certain models, I believe 250, then they release a little at a time on EBAY and then wait for a bit and then they SELL more on EBAY until their gone. If they sell fast they'll have Buck make more of that model. C&C, they buy large quantities of exclusive knives then they sell them on EBAY until they're gone... Both companies have websites where you can buy them also...

BOTM, Buck manufactures a Limited run of knives and sends everyone on their mailing and it's first come first serve and there won't be anymore made.

Even if Buck made 10,000 of an LE, which is contradictory, and you wait 3 months to buy one and they're gone, whose fault is that? Bucks??? I don't think so...

Don

P.S. I'm starting to get that old feeling of beating a dead horse, I thought we were done with that...

I want enough time to see the email, make a decision and then purchase if I choose. It's that simple.

Make enough for one day or don't even send me the email.

I wouldn't even call it Buck of the Month as it is. A really great idea but a missed opportunity to grow new collectors in my opinion.

It's a new program for Buck so it will take a few months to work out the kinks. I'd be shocked if they ever do less than a run of 200 in the future. And I'd be shocked to see them do more than 250 - 300 in a run, only time will tell, but for now just have to dream about my Tambia/Shark combo pack:D

At least they are trying to have a special program, name one other knife manufacturer doing the same?
