Thrill, that looks great. How much fatter are those sclaes verses the factory's?
I dont have calipers....

It fits in the top strap better then factory...wont slide thru it. The bottom strap will close..but its so tight and difficult to do that it's pretty much impossible in the field

The Tommy's are mainly thicker in the contoured sections (less scalloped in)..I dont think the OAL thickness is much greater if at all.

they seem about same thickness as factory at the middle and blade-side screw holes...maybe a hair thicker at the rear screw hole.

How much do you want to spend? I'd personally go with a Savage Mark II, but I think their rimfires are all Canada made, now, so if US made is a must, that might be a deal
breaker.

Marlin..those lil marlin bolt guns shoot way better then their price would have you believe! If I'm not mistaken, Savage also makes a tube-fed bolt.

The Marlins are a great value. I have an unhealthy addiction for Marlin rimfires. The ole' classic Model 60 is about the best tube fed semi-auto 22 on the market IMHO. All of my Marlins are pre-Remington/Freedom Group, so I don't know how the QC is on their new stuff. I like the oldies.

Probably around three or four hundred. American made is a must.
There is a little military surplus store that opened up in my hometown.
As soon the state gives me permission to purchase a firearm, I will probably go see what they have.
I have done a lot of checking and it seems that most metal and wood firearms are at least 50 years old, but not too expensive.
I looked at the marlin 81, but it has a plastic trigger guard.

off to the P.O. so all you who have an Ogre package coming...proceed with Operation:Wait By Mailbox lol

I apologize for the GAW prize delays...I been slacking off

We might have been boged on the vacation cabin. Wife's boss playing hard ball, and won't give her the time off. She has a meeting at 2, going to find out why. Effing a-holes.

Sorry to hear that trade. Just play bridge instead

Thanks man. I'm thinking about breaking out the shuffleboard if I can find a suitable sweater. I like to be properly attired for an activity.

I was on my honeymoon and on the cruise ship i saw two guys who had to be late 60's early 70's about to throw down over some shuffle board...apparently they were playing for money...and apparently one of them told the other one to piss off when it came time to pay up. No hips were broken, and i believe they called the fight short due to a Matlock marathon.

The one in the "Scottsdale" green sweater was me. I had a BK2 scout carry under it and I was all set to cut his ass when my knee gave out. Lucky man right there. Yep.

On a sidenote..I actually love playing shuffleboard LOL....It's fun to smash your opponents disks into the oblivion!!!

good low cost USA made tube fed bolt action .22? check pawn shops for an old Mossberg.

I left at 3am Wednesday to go to the Hardwoodsman's meet in Southern Missouri, I got back late last night. There were a few beckerheads there, it was good to see you all, I had a great time.

wish I could have gone to that, but SWMBO informed me a couple weeks ago that we had family stuff to do Saturday -- then about noon Saturday she canceled the family stuff.
I was not amused.

I've already told her "I don't care who is getting married or graduating high school on May 19 -- I'll be at Ethan's house!"
