Are You A HOG?. . . .

Here's another idea.....
If you can produce a picture of yourself with at least 4 of any single model, and your driver's license, you should qualify as a HOG!

Being a HOG is:

- Getting up in the morning and checking the Busse Forum, Busse Exchange and your email to see what happened overnight and if there are any knives to hog up before you take a shower.

- Talking other knifemakers going to Blade into getting you an Exhibitors pass so you can get in early and be at the front of the Busse booth when the show opens.

- Saying "I'll take it" first when Busse knives come up for sale and worry later how you are going to pay for them or if you really need it.

- Buying Busse knives for other HOGs that you know they collect and not marking up the price, but due charge a alcohol finders fee.

- Sending bribe gifts to the Busse office women in order to get special treatment on ordering. It doesn't hurt to add a little something for Jerry and Garth too, but we all know who runs the show, right Amy?

- Thinking that (20) of the same model knife isn't too many.

- Thinking that (1) of any model definately is not enough, one must always have a safe queen and a user, but preferably (1) user, (1) safe queen and (10) incase the demand skyrockets!

I'll add more as I think of them.................................:D

More criteria:

You should have to take out a 30 foot tree in your back yard using an FBM and pure grit.

You should have to trade double entendre with TonyG for at least 50 posts.

You should be able to disguise, with impunity, the fact that you're really a 14-year old girl.

You should have Amy-0 on speed dial (just in case).

You should experience the excruciating agony of having been trampled at the trough.

You should go to Blade. (I agree with Dennis on this one. It's a different board once you've met the folks face-to-face.)

Hmmm... Old Physics, I'm out of vodka. :D :p

HOG is a state of bliss!

And girlie pics don't hurt either...

Should there be several different levels of Hogdom such as "Piglet", "Oinker", "Alpha Boar", and "Old Guard HOG"???. . . .

At first glance, I like this idea. It might give folks a more defined set of criteria to which they could aspire. Piglet and Old Guard HOG seem easy enough to categorize. The trick will be to distinguish an Oinker from an Alpha Boar, I think.

The drawbacks might be that class divisions would break up the sort of Arthurian Round Table sense of HOGDOM--that is, once you're in, you're in with all rights and privileges.

Oh, and where did the pork rinds go??? :p

I think a hog is mainly a state of mind . . . but a sure sign of a hog is one who has scrimped, saved, traded, and begged to get a knife from someone else.

For example:
When I decided that the ST-Ripper was the knife for me, I contacted just about every person who has owned one, begging them to sell theirs.
Eventually, I found someone who was dumb, er . . . kind enough to part with theirs. ;) Unfortunately, they wanted to trade it for a SH-E, and I didn't have a SH-E . . . so I had to root around the trough some more to find a SH-E.

I don't own a lot of Busses, but I think I qualify for a low level of hog-dom.

Also, since dexterity at the trough is so important, dance lessons might be required.

Oh Lordy, now I'm quoting myself. More I think about it though, one natural division between Oinkers and Alpha Boars might be the trip to Blade.

Just hypothesizing here... Piglets clearly will own a fair amount of INFI and will be a recognizable force on the boards. Going up a step, maybe Oinkers and Alpha Boars will be on a par on most levels, but Alpha Boars will have gone the extra mile to check out Blade and meet some of the fellow HOGs.

Old Guard HOGs? Who knows what they do other than scarf down piglets for breakfast?

Amy-0, everyone should be so lucky to take that vision test! :D
