This is... BRILLIANT!

Yes.....and it's also too damn much work. I get crispy fries every time and I have NEVER tested potatoes first. But.....I guess some people gotta go nutz. Fry them twice, and for the love of everything sacred, buy ORGANIC potatoes. Slice with the skin on, rinse and dry, fry once at 350°, then again at 375°. Had absolutely ZERO complaints and nearly all compliments from the dozens of people I've served them to.

The other meat!!

I think to most of the 'Heads, it's not "the other".....it's just delicious, bacon or butt, chops or shoulder.

Both of those look pretty yummy, C-bear and Cooper. Had some bacon this morning, but tonight we're having burgers & corn from the farmer's market.

Did a tune-up on my little pickup today. Went to change the fuel filter, should be a simple enough job. Except they put the fuel filter right over a cross member and I can't quite get my wrenches on it. There's tons of room on that frame rail, 6 inches in either direction would have made it a piece of cake. Now I have to pay a shop to do it.

At least it's not a Renault. Timing chain against the firewall, had to remove the engine to change the filter...."the French copy NO ONE, and no one copies the French".

Sorry to hear it, hoss. I had to do the same with our VW many years ago. Jacked it up, put it on the stands, realized I couldn't get myself and the creeper under there....then noticed that even if I could there was a belly pan that needed removal before I could get to the plug. Worth the premium to pay someone else to do it.

Totally feel you on that. I fry them twice too, although a much greater difference between temps. First one is at 250 degrees, second time at 400 degrees. What I tried one time was fry them at 250 degrees, and then broiled them (as a "healthier alternative") which did still work out pretty good. The other thing when I broiled them I added garlic, lemon, and parmesean.

re: pork

apparently they had pork belly in the stores...
Anatoliy salted and spiced the outside and cooked it just until tender... amazing.
But almost better, the leftover found its way, thinly sliced, to the cold-cuts tray in the fridge. OMG! A slice of that plus a slice of provolone has been blowing my mind every 3 hours all day.

Well... I now want french fries and bacon... time to make some poutine....

I also had to replace the wiper switch in the steering column. You have to take the whole dang column apart to fish the plug through. I ended up running the wires down the outside of the column. Next time something breaks and I need take it to someone I'll have them put the switch in right and change the fuel filter.

I miss my '90 F250 with the wiper switch in the dash. Another thing I liked about that was being able to activate the squirters and wipers separately. Nice for in the winter time you could spray de-icer on the windshield and let it work before turning the wipers on and tearing them up.

Mmmm pork.

Yes... Saw this, plus a commercial for Wendy's new pulled pork sammitch during the Broncos-Ravens game... Fortunately had some leftover "country style" pork ribs...i.e. rib shaped slabs of meat cut from the pork butt (or the loin, but those don't have enough fat). Chopped those up with some BBQ sauce, added pickles and leftover Long John's coleslaw, and voila...chopped BBQ sammitch! Sorry, no pictures...burrrrrp!

I like the buns on $1 Arbys.

They'll have em there. Only problem being, you'll have to buy an entire box. Things are sold by the case to keep costs down.

I like the first few episodes of the original better. While I know this one is supposed to explain in detail how stuff happens... it just seems a little... slow.
