No one said to go That far, holy crap...

just the snake, kill Just The Snake with fire. Got it?
JUST THE SNAKE.

Snake was hanging out under a metal staircase up against a building surrounded by overgrown weeds and such. There's no way to kill it without a lot of collateral damage. which is why you use fire in the first place. You know you got it when there's nothing left anywhere in the area.

Zathras can never have anything nice.

I had to ask my wife not to use my nakiri on the salt cutting board. Seems she didn't realize that using a ROCK for a cutting board is maybe not so good for the knife you're using....If I catch her again, I will hide ALL the good kitchen knives. Still working on the "dry after washing" thing...I keep finding them wet on the sideboard. RrrRRrr.....

My mom's idea of a kitchen knife sharpener is two overlapping washers that you pull the knife through

Ok, GSOM. I put up a discussion thread. Drop in and give me your feedback. Will try to get some pretty decent prizes going for this one.

It's been a while since I've posted an update on my beekeeping... If you're not interested, tough luck...I'm gonna post anyway.

I may or may not have posted a photo of the some of the girls (the workers are all female) a few weeks ago working on curing some nectar that was close to being honey.

Last weekend I was able to pull out six frames full of capped honey from one of my two hives. Here's what one looks like that is fully cured, capped and ready for harvest.

I spent a little time each night working on scraping the honey and wax off the frames (I don't have a centrifugal extractor) and straining the wax out. I let it settle for a day or so and bottled some up today. It's really dark and thick, with a bit of a caramel flavor. Got a few air bubbles in some bottles, but that should clear up in a few days. Yum!

My wife is the same way... I offer to do them on the stones and she will still use the pull-through. Drives me nuts.

Well darn, it seems like I have my first cavity

I didn't have any cavities until I got to college - man was I surprised. I figured since I'd never had any as a kid, then I wasn't going to EVER get any.....turns out that 30+ years later I still have a lot to learn.

Other than the sugar part, raw honey would be the perfect treatment for tooth decay.... :D It's anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-microbial, and anti-inflammatory.

I only had cavities as a kid, and probably should have had more since I almost never brushed despite my parents' instructions. I believe I have "excess saliva production" which helped keep the bacteria somewhat at bay. I did have to have a couple fillings redone last year since after about 40 years, they had started to fall apart.

My wife will just tell me the knives need to be sharpened. Kind if like she's washing her hands of them. LOL I'm so glad she won't use those crappy sharpeners anymore.

Had a bit of fun yesterday - that was also a bit of work...

Unfortunately it rained and so the firepit is still full.....

Granted, the edge has been significantly re-profiled.

James.. Empty your PMs brother!!

GSO- looks great bud!! I been on a honey kick lately myself. I have some raw wildflower, raw gall flower or maybe gallberry ?, and raw sourwood. Been wanting to try buckwheat. Only time i seen it down here i didnt have any cash on me and he only accepted cash. But im hoping to run across it again!!

Honey and peanut butter... So much win. Raw delicious honey is YUMM.

Mike-, sweet blades, looks like you had a great time as well. We were gunna have a fire last night but it rained most the day and everything was wet. Got the wife and kids outside to shoot some bows for a bit though and that was fun.

Used the machaxe to chop down a mostly dead 4" wide oak tree... While doing it i shook/vibrated loose a dead branch on a tree next to it.. came down and hit me right in the face. ~1/4" from my eye. got a few scratches and it swelled a little but no biggie.. coulda been worse!! I should of shook the trees around me first to make sure that wouldnt happen... next time i will LOL

It just adds to the challenge when the trees fight back. You're lucky the "mostly dead" one didn't throw itself on your skull in a last, deadly suicidal attempt to fight back against the injustice of being butchered by a knife wielding, (mostly) hairless ape.

How much of that time was spent switching between knives? 😎
