Are you ready for Snark week?!!!

I really need to repro file my brute, I haven't really used it since I bought it

Yeah, you do....I can see why people want them, but the edge is like 100° inclusive (or more!) from the factory. Until I worked up the stones to do it, mine mostly sat, which was disturbing - 'cause I try only to have users. Got it to about 35° per side, and it made a HUGE difference. You can see how much steel I took off; it took about an hour with the KO WorkSharp - partly because I was going slow with the 220 (80 was too scary and I wasn't confident enough to do it on the 2x42) and checking progress a LOT. Anyway, DO IT! It totally makes it into a knife instead of a bludgeon.

When I first got it, I couldn't even get it to do this (stick in my stump; it would just bounce off (and it was new from Camillus )):

,,,,,,,
Used the machaxe to chop down a mostly dead 4" wide oak tree... While doing it i shook/vibrated loose a dead branch on a tree next to it.. came down and hit me right in the face. ~1/4" from my eye. got a few scratches and it swelled a little but no biggie.. coulda been worse!! I should of shook the trees around me first to make sure that wouldnt happen... next time i will LOL

A "widow maker" is a loose or nearly loose limb that falls and kills someone working under the tree. That happened to my great-uncle William, one of my grandfather's brothers. He was killed at age 14 when just such a "widow maker" fell and hit him in the head.

Fun looking work there Mike :D

I watched an internet tutorial on how to make lanyards today. Put it on my knife, realised again how much I hate them... took it off and put it on my key chain.

Really depends on the knife. Most of my knives don't have them at all. My large choppers just have loops for grip, on the BK2 it can really let you get back on the handle if you need to chop with it. On a small fixed blade can be good for either serving as a handle extension of sorts or it can be held along side the handle to fill out your hand more. A couple of my tip-up only folders have them because it does help me get the knife out of my pocket easier.

Waiting at airport to fly back to the Midwest and back to real life. I've really enjoyed my trip to the Sierra Nevada mountains and Lake Tahoe.

It was fun to walk into the hotel off of a decent dayhike leaving a literal trail of dust behind us.

I use the loops on choppers too. With my smaller knives I just don't like the way they hang while I'm working on stuff. Personal preference I guess.

If I don't need it I don't bother putting one on. I actually weave mine on the knife through the lanyard hole though and doing it that way you can set how much the lanyard swings back and forth and there is very little side-to-side swing.

Looks like a Tops, a Condor, and one from Baryonx, then a Jungalas, a 4, 9, 1.

I'm going to change that, looks like a Tops, an Ontario, and a Condor.

Granite, imma callin you out brother. Top three of the blades you used for your wood choppin fun, and why.

Call me out all you want, thorny. The blades used were: RTAK II, TOPS Machete .230 (it's HUGE) Condor Boomslang, Junglas, BK-1, BK-4 and the BK-9. I might post a new thread, I might not ;). Basically took out all the blades (i own) in the 9" and up (with the exception of thin machete from this Spring's gathering) range and bashed some wood. I got a few pictures ;). I remembered again why the BK-9 was my first ever Becker, and why I LOVE that blade. Still had fun with the others, tho.....some more than others. Kinda like a chopper orgy.

Plus I took out my Bailey and gave it a go, since it was on my belt. He makes some stunning hardware.

As to the why: puh-leaze! Because I have them, that's why. And they're all fun to chop with, as stated previously. Duh.

Not why did you do it..lol or why do you have those knives. I'm a knife guy too I get that part. I wanted a break down of the top three performers, and why they were your top three.

Coop that pork looks quite yummy...

This was lunch on Friday. New BBQ place that opened (actually the sister restaurant to my favorite BBQ place in town)

Burnt ends, Mac and Cheese, and Hush Puppies...

You'll have to wait for the review. This is the snark thread, after all.....and I have to make sure I don't fall off my thread count. Plus, given all the duplicate threads lately, I thought I'd do something a tad different. Not the chop-off part, but the blades used part. I first have to get my shit together. Then I have to remember where I put it. THEN I can post a new thread. Hint: the Junglas is my favorite. But the 9, 4 & 1 are not far behind. And only the Brute fails in the "price/value" category.

I'll try and get it together this evening.
