Has a large collection/accumulation of folding knives?

Or do you only own a couple with no intentions on ever owning more than a couple?

Or... are you currently building a collection/accumulation?

For those with the large collection/accumulation... how many we talkin' here?

I once had a decent sized collection, but am currently much more comfortable with a very small collection of just a few knives. I'm always looking for what might become my next true EDC knife, but I'm in no rush to move my current go-to knife out of its spot.

I am collecting high end production and mid-techs.... Why?

$$$ in the bank is earning squat, so why not buy high quality knives, guns, etc and enjoy them?

I have about 20 knives now, with a collection price of 10K

My collection had a growth spurt a couple years ago when I was in search of the "perfect" edc. After that I realized, with a couple choice purchases I would have a enough to split between my two kids.

Now I have two knives I carry edc. A xm-18 and a modified ZT 0350.

Fixed blade knives I don't "collect", they are all users in cars, packs, etc.

I'm trying to stop man , I don't need more than 40 knives but there are a couple more that I really want !?!?!?

I'm at about 80 but the most expensive I own is $375. I'm also in the search for the perfect EDC and I'm pretty sure I will never find it. So many of those 80 never see the light of day so I need to get off my lazy butt and sell some so others can enjoy them.

I'm more of an "accumulator" than a "collector."

In my mind, a collector has a particular theme or focus and their goal is completing a collection - owning every Delica variant or things like that. I buy knives pretty frequently and don't intend to stop, but I buy whatever strikes my fancy and it's all intended for use.

I'd say I'm in the "searching for the perfect EDC" camp too, but honestly I've already found several great EDC options that do everything I could ask, I just keep buying more because I get bored and I have fun trying out new knives.

Over 100+, productions, midtechs and around 20 or so custom. $35,000, give or take. Been accumulating knives for many years.

I have over 100 knives, but of those 100 maybe 20 of them are users. The rest are flea market specials that I collect for their novelty factor.

I could be perfectly fine with maybe 10 knives and it would be easier just to have a couple for edc, but the knife world is an endless exploration.

I was a collector. I wanted to keep every knife that I purchased. But In my mid thirties I now realize I am what I would call an enthusiast. In my family knives are my thing. And I have found that after I get bored with a design I rarely revisit it. So I keep my "collection" on a rotating basis. I don't have a set limit on how many I will own. But I usually have a policy that if I buy something I am going to get rid of something. So I usually have between 10-20 knives at any given time and the knives that are in that lot change fairly often. For me when I am done with something I am done. I have had one instance where I regretted selling a knife but that was because I will never find or be able to afford another one and should certainly have kept it. Its my only knife regret. But for the rest of them I just feel having hundreds of knives in pouches never being used and just occasionally fondled has no appeal. In fact it drove me crazy as I obsessed about condition. Now I wont buy or keep a knife I am too afraid to use.

Okay, well let me reiterate then for every technical Timmy out there... "accumulater" is more so what I meant... Just for anyone else who felt like being unnecessarily difficult on this topic.

I am a user and not a collector. I have 4 or 5 folders and 8 fixed blades of different sizes for different uses (small edcs up to machetes).

At first I couldn't own enough knives.

Now I only have 1-3 at a time...

Looking back at it, I think it was a great thing to have had all those knives, it has really been the only way for me to understand what I really like and dislike in a knife.

I'm a collector.... I guess. Lol
300+ Spyderco , 100+ Case knives, Custom folders, Fixed blades galore... I used to travel for work and would take the knife annual to contact makers in different states/cities.... bought a lot of knives right in guys living rooms. All said somewhere around 700 knives and I carry the same 8 or 10 year round....

Woah, I wasn't trying to be difficult or anything, I was just stating my philosophy on the hobby.

I was going to tell you about my $12million knife collection, but with that attitude, you'll never know:D

Lol. My apologies. I thought he was picking apart the way I worded it which I found unnecessary. I feel like it's obvious what I meant. But he said he meant no difficulties so I apologize to you and him!

Your 12 million dollar knife collection is intriguing though I must say. I suppose I cannot blame you for not wanting to share due to my attitude. Hahaa
