Are you the type who...

For me it will be but a relatively few when compared to most. I just have to many other interests and I tend to like a bit of balance. Although I may have more of some things than most I do like a bit of this and a bit of that. So at only 6 now I'm trying to narrow down a few more as I am looking at moving onto something other than knives real soon.

I like autos. But unfortunately in my left wing State, we can't carry these because of a push button to open the blade.
Oh my gosh!!

I've accumulated probably 60ish knives (all production, max ~$250)... I've found myself becoming much more particular in my purchases, however. I end up carrying my more expensive knives, so I try to be more conscious of my decisions when buying and often pass over cheaper production knives because I know I won't likely carry them. I would like to liquidate some of my collection, but I also like having some of the cheaper knives around for traveling or other scenarios that won't bother me if they get lost.

I just started collecting January of last year. I now have 12 spydies, 4 kershaws, 1 crkt, and 1 sog. Only the spydies get carried, the others are in a shoebox collecting dust lol
That's impressive for only 1 year!!

I am new to knifes maybe 6 or 7 months in and bought a few kershaws and what not right off the bat then I moved to quality so I own about 6 folders and carry two a ZT 045 and Shiro Neon Lite and am happy with those as EDC. Now I need a good quality fixed blade.

I'm the one who goes for quantity of quality. I might not have the big names, but the ones I buy are from good companies.

I have always liked knives, I started with fixed knives but I started to like folding knives better, now I have 21 folders and 15 fixed. Always looking for some new knife, something that catch my attention and listen to my wife say .. Another knife !!!
I live in venezuela, and here there is no sale of knives, so I have to buy all my knives on the web, amazon, bladehq or knife center, send the knives to my sister's house in Miami and get them to Caracas. It's difficult but I really love knives.

I started in about June off 2016, and I have about half a dozen Benchmades and couple of SOGs and stuff.

Now I am at:
Mnandi
Small Sebenza 21 w/Micarta Inlays
Large Sebenza 21 w/CF Inlays
BM 51
ZT 0452CF
CKF MILK
Microtech SBK
Chris Reeve Nyala

And I am wanting to buy a ti-lock but there hasn't been one on the exchange and the retailers I prefer to buy from are out of stock.

I have Spyderco Tenacious with black coated blade.

And my problem is that I can't justify to get something else.

At one point... I had 8 ZT's, 4 Benchmades, 1 SOG and 1 CS which totals 14 folders. I always feel weird when I get a "collection" of knives. I'm currently down to just my favourite 2 ZT's; ZT 0560BW and ZT 0566BW.

Tell yourself you need a smaller one...
One of better quality...
One of lesser quality to beat up..
A frame lock..
A back lock..
An axis lock..
One of each steel..
Different size blades..
One with Serrations..
Because it's on sale..

Just to name a few [emoji6]

There are just So many justifiable reasons out there to buy another one [emoji13]

I like the Tenacious. I gave mine away though. It is a pocket hog and the blade steel could be better.

Over all it is a fantastic buy. Consider it the perfect gateway knife for Spyderco products.

Keep the Tenacious, get a Vic. Alox Farmer* and throw in a fixed blade of some sort. You will be set for most any cutting needs.

*It can be any of the Alox Pioneer series. They are all good. Easy to sharpen, too. Just like your Tenacious.

Haha well-said, man. I busted out the "it's on sale!" for an 801BW. I told myself it was going to be my new "quality beater"

I am at about 20 knives. All folders. Around 10+ traditionals including a number of GEC, Case, Languiole, SAKs and 1 Northwoods and 1 Grohmann. The remainder are modern folders by Benchmade (2 Mini-grips) an original 940 and 2 Spyderco Dragonflys, a Para3, a Native 5 and a new Endura on its way to me now.

I think I need to pause a bit in purchases as I feel satisfied and overwhelmed at the same time. Meaning I like what I have acquired but have trouble keeping them all in circulation. I don't want to just collect. I want to carry them all even if for some models it is infrequently.

I will keep my eyes open and continue to participate here on the BF but on my want list presently there is only a Northwoods Indian River in some modern steel and the new Case Tribal Spear due out later in the summer. Perhaps a small Bark River like the Micro Canadian.

Now if I could more easily participate in the For Sale By Individual forum that could change, but most postings say CONUS only and our Canadian forum does not see much activity especially in traditional knives.

I probably had my first small, inexpensive, novelty, tourist trap knife when I was 8 years old. And I've been a collector for the past 40 years. I grew up doing all types of outdoor activities and a knife was just part of that lifestyle. When I started working and making my own money, I was able to finally purchase some knives I had wanted for so long. Had a collection of 300+ traditional German made pocketknives. Sold the whole collection when I needed money. I got into Spyderco, Cold Steel, Benchmade, etc for a few years. I collected custom tactical knives for a while. Due to necessity I made some hard decisions liquidate 3/4 of my collection last year to survive. I sold all the custom folders that I never carried or used. Sold a bunch of fixed blades. Sold nearly all my Spyderco knives. It seems to have been a blessing in disguise. My current collection consists of 8 Chris Reeve folders (Classic, 21, 25, and Inkosi). A few fixed blades, a few Alox SAKs. That's it. I'm very content with the ones I loved the most.

I like to collect knives I can find a purpose for. Have a BM as my EDC, have a Sypdie for slicing (second on the way), have 2 ZTs (one for woods one for more "dressed up"). Next stop will probably be one of the two Emerson Mini CQC7s, but I need to find more information on the company and where they manufacture before I decide to purchase. If I can't see myself using the knife, I'm not interested in safe queens or display knives. Only "Display Knife" I have is my Operation Iraqi Freedom USN Ka-BAR and I intend to keep it that way.

I'm a blade whore. If it cuts, I'm interested. If it's unique or well designed or iconic or beautiful or makes me feel tingly in the trousers, I'm sold. I do consider my collection of 80 pieces begun in 1979 to be well curated however.

I have no idea what is an accumulation. I buy stuff I like, then extra furniture to store them or invade another guest room :)
