Arkansas Knife Show 2011-Show Us what you Got

Thanks for the comments on my knives, guys. I can't wait to see Jerry's 'n Don's 'n Brion's 'n Gary's in person at the show.( Gary, we gotta talk swords.)

John

John- I'll be glad to share what I learned from this one but since it was my first, I'm sure no authority on swords.

Ron- Thanks for the kind words. I felt a whole lot like someone grinding a blade for the first time because of the length of the grind. I couldn't make one continuous grinding pass down a blade of this length without stopping as I'm used to doing. Part of the difficulty that I ran into was keeping the grind lines straight while keeping the flex of the blade even as well. :)I have a whole new respect for sword makers.

A traditional style.
High Plains Bowie
Blade-10 1/4 inches- sheffield clip- 700 layers –w pattern

WOW, this is going to be a great show. All the knives shown thus far are absolute beauties and I know most of these guys are probably holding back one or 2 for show surprises.
Gary that sword looks really cool, you may have just opened up a new can of
worms with that one, I hope you liked making that one because its probably going to cause you to make more. ;) I'm looking forward to handling it, I like big knives. :D
John it looks like you've done it again, another beautiful bunch for the Ark. show. I sure hope I can get by your table before their all gone this year.

Hope to see you all there,

Bill

Here is something a little smaller for the show. It is one of my survival tin knives with red carbon fiber scales. Makes for a fun neck knife.

Gary, great sword. Don't worry Dan Petesen always has a sword with him at the show. Only worry when you bring a sword to a gun fight;):D:thumbup:

Thanks. Glad you liked it. If you get the chance please stop by my table.

Bill- I appreciate the kind words. Looking forward to seeing you there.

Alright now thats like one of the nicest hansons ever!

Wait until you see this one live. Luckily, Don's knifemaking skills blow his photography skills away. :D

I love the way the forged damascus pattern looks like it is flowing out of the guard. A totally cool Hanson fighter.

Another beauty, Don. Not only do you make some fantastic damascus but you have the knack of making it "pop". I really enjoy your ability to get the presentation that you do out of damascus (or a hamon) time after time.

I will echo the previous sentiments in that this is going to be quite a show.

Hi everyone!

Here is a knife I'll have on display at the Little Rock, AR show next week. I'll have two or three more at the show as well, however this will be the most elaborate one I'll have.

The 11" blade has a mosaic core and modified "W" twist bars on the outside. The blade is up-swept with a long clip. The handle is walrus ivory. I made the fittings out of A-36 and gun blued them. I also added some fine silver inlay. The file-worked liners are of titanium as is the inset in the pommel. This is also the first knife I've made with a Spanish Notch.

I would like to thank Caleb for the great work he did on the pic.

I'm looking forward to the show!

Fantastic piece Kyle - I am blown away by the damascus and the handle treatment.
